For everyone out there who is "speculating" on Xpu-Ha Palace & Club Maeva: Once in a while I come to this site to read what folks have to say about Palace Resorts, good or bad. Most of the time, I get a good chuckle from some of the "rumors" & mis-information floating around out there, written as if it were the "gospel".

Sadly, just because many are "membership" owners, does not mean their information is totally correct...they are not the owners, nor are they privy to all information.

First of all, yes, Palace Resorts has purchased Club Maeva. It will not carry the Palace Resorts name until AUG07 at which time it will be brought up to the full Palace Resorts standards which include Double Jacuzzi in every room, in-room liquor dispenser, mini-bar, 24 hr room service & included high-speed wireless internet access.

In the meantime, Palace Resorts is upgrading the food & adding more staff to better serve their guests. Many loyal Club Maeva guests will most probably be unhappy with the changes, but hey...that's business & the resort will be better off for it. The rates are incredibly cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Xpu-Ha guests have full exchange privileges with Club Maeva & able to use all facilities at the resort. They have the advantage of the continuous lobby-to-lobby transportation which runs from 7am-1am. Be clear on this...ONLY Xpu-Ha guests have exchange privileges...not Aventura Spa Palace guests or guests of any other Palace Resorts. Club Maeva guests DO NOT have exchange privileges @ Xpu-Ha Palace. This also applies to the Palace Passport -Palace Resorts guest only.

Xpu-Ha Palace has re-opened with 144 rooms...the same wonderful bungalows & brand-new pools with swim-up bars & two new restaurants...a fantastic kiddie pool with water slide. Yes, it is smaller & more intimate & everyone will just have to be patient with regards to the rest of the acreage.

For you "members" wondering about Le Blanc Spa Resort...this is indeed owned by Palace Resorts. It is not branded as a Palace Resort...it is a totally separate BRAND of ultra luxury resort within the Palace Resorts umbrella. This is why it has a separate website & Palace Resorts is not in the name. Because the resort is totally different & features much more amenities than the Palace Resorts, the rates are indeed higher. There are no investors, there is no hidden agenda on the part of Palace Resorts...it is simply a different brand, not included in the Palace Resorts brand. Sometimes when you call, you may end up talking to a "new" person who may not understand this & perhaps give you an erroneous answer.

Hopefully this clears up a few things.

Actually, I've spoken to and emailed many times with my sales rep Her name is India Lee. I also have spoken several times with my customer service person who has called me back insisting he isn't comfortable with email as he would rather explain things on the phone. His name is Antonio Lopez. I've just not had the poor service I read about here.

Dear John (never thought I'd start a letter like that) -

You've got to be kidding me that you just wrote those last two posts...I'd like to assume you haven't read my posts, but then how would you know I was 'complaining'? Picking up the phone is what I've done, and what I've posted, and why I'm 'complaining' because they keep giving me different answers. They refuse to answer in writing because they don't want to be held to anything - even when i've talked to them on the phone and asked them to send me a copy of what they just told me in an email, they've refused. I'm satisfied with the CMT explanation because I haven't heard conflicting information on that, yet, and because it really doesn't impact my decision to go to XpuHa next spring. It's the other issues, like LeBlanc, that are more frustrating because a) I've been told 4 different stories, and b) only one time did their story agree with my written contract language, and c) it makes me wonder if they are telling the same lies to other members who signed contracts thinking we could use any future property Palace purchase. My original customer service rep 'is no longer with the company'. My current 'rep' can't even spell my name correctly. The folks on this forum are 'complaining' because we can't get straight answers when we ask Palace questions, and have to resort to using forums like this to see if anyone else can help. A forward thinking, service oriented successful company could solve these problems by simply posting answers to FAQs on their website, which I've asked them to do during each conversation.

I will grant you that Miami leaves much to be desired in the knowledge of things department.

LaBlanc seems to be another "owned but not included property". I'm not very knowledgeable about that as I has no stake in it. I just know when I don't like the answer I'm being given I respectfully ask for someone up the line and usually get to someone who satisfies my need.

I'm not talking about any individual, but rather the general tone of many folks on here that bash Palace who are just buying time or RCI exchanging and act like they own the right forever. You may have seen the posting about XPU-HA couldn't possibly open as they were there days before and it was a shambles. Well, the pics posted were of the old Ragazzies that isn't being rebiult at this time and some of the units that also aren't. Then the was someone from SC who stayed there Jun 2 and found it great as we know it used to be. Then there are the folks who stated Palace killed XPU-HA. I don't think it was a plan I think it was a storm of greater strength than Katrina and a government that won't allow rebuid.

Things like that bother me.

I get your point. From anyone walking up the beach, it certainly didn't look like XpuHa could open. And apparently the current XpuHa is still flooded with construction workers, so it's easy to see why someone would think that. I wish they would post more info on their websites though. I've seen other companies keep members updated with pictures of renovations in progress...wouldn't it be nice to see how any of the cancun Palace resorts are coming along...probably getting members more excited about what's new? and wouldn't it be nice if they just posted on their member site that part of XpuHa is not being rebuilt at this time, but work is progressing on the other side? Or anything about the beach privileges at CMT? There is nothing there updating us, except bland messages like "XpuHa opened its doors today". Wow. I locked my door on the way out of the house today...I'm sure that info is just as useful...

And yes, I agree about the "Palace killed XpuHa" remarks...but hey, if Bush can plant bombs under levees...you never know!

Another 'update' on Xpu-Ha & LeBlanc: An "account executive" called me on my cell phone today (Sunday) to further address questions I've had about Xpu-Ha & LeBlanc (in response to an email I sent 6/12/06). I asked her to reply via an email explanation, or post the following info on the Palace Member website but she declined citing 'legal reasons' (said everything has to go through the legal department before it can be printed or posted).

Regarding Xpu-Ha: Basically she had nothing new to add to the discussion already posted here, except to confirm that the 'other side' of Xpu-Ha HAS been lost in a property dispute (and is not closed for 3-5 years until the eco-system redevelops which has been the other rumor going around). She claimed CMT will be up to Palace standards by next summer.

Regarding LeBlanc: according to her, the members with VIP membership status will be allowed to use LeBlanc and other future Palace Resorts. She explained that different levels of membership will have different restrictions on the use of future resorts. We have a VIP Founding membership and she said we will be able to use all future resorts owned by Palace, regardless if it is a "separate BRAND of ultra luxury" (including the new Moon Grand, D.R. resort, and the renovated CMT).

Just thought I'd share my most recent communication with Palace...

rtsmudbug--That is reassuring. I am glad we are VIP. But I wish we all could get something in writing.

Okay I may sound dumb, but what did you VIP members pay?

I orginally bought points in '92 at the Cancun Palace. Several years later I upgraded at the Moon Palace to Premier membership. That includes the massage, pedicure, blah, blah stuff. However I doubt for the extra five grand I paid I am a VIP member. Can anyone tell me what that includes?

The main advantage of VIP membership is the discounted all inclusive rates and airfares and the right to use the Presidential Suites. Although you can find all inclusive rates/airfares to within $200 of the VIP rate at the larger Travel Agencies (Like AMEX, or Liberty Travel in NY), they can't get you into a Presidential Suite, which is two regular rooms connected by a huge living room and dining room and a huge truely oceanfront balcony.

The cost of your membership is justified by the "Imperial Weeks they give you - ie, weeks where you do not have to pay the all inclusive fee at all. They also sweeten the deral by throwing in a few free airfares as well.
