My wife and I are trveling to Balhia principe in early April. We reserved a "run of the house" room. Does it mean we will get the worst possible room. Also, we have questions on weather (during first part of April), transportation (to/from Cancun airport), attire/clothing at the resort and any other relevant information about the property. Any help is greatly appreciated

Your room will be fine as they are pretty much all the same. Just try and get building 12, 13, 14, 15,16 - just don't get building 9 as it's a bad location. We went the same two weeks last year and the weather was beautiful every day. We were on a package so we had a bus from the airport however I do believe there were shuttles going to the resort. Clothing - what ever you want - the only exception is that men have to wear pants at the a la carte restaurants. The resort is absolutely beautiful and you get two resorts to use. The sister resort Akumal is a 5 minute walk on the beach and you can use all their facilities. Make sure you bring an insulated mug - coffee, beer etc. Go early in the mornig to reserve pool or beach lounges. Reserve restaurants the day you get there. If you ahve any other questions just ask away and I will gladly answer them for you.

Marlon, I was there last year, by the end of April, and the weather was perfect, bright sun, gentle to moderate breeze, even at night, warm ocean, pina coladas... hmmm, a little piece of paradise. I too got one of the standard rooms, and it was really good, no problem with it, excellent AC, ceiling fan was effective and quiet, bathroom was ok, fully functional but it shows some aging, bed was BIG and comfortable (I like it firm), minibar always stocked (even MM's candy bars) and kept things ice cold, no bugs, tv seemed to work ok but I almost didn't use it, in general it was comfortable, functional and spotlessly clean.

Do yourself a favor and tip. One dollar everyday on your pillow, one dollar everyday on your minibar, one dollar a everynight on the bar, one dollar every morning at breakfast, one every noon at lunch and one everynight at dinner... those 6 daily dollars will be some of the best spent of your life, for they will improve your experience. Add to that a nice smile and say "gracias" while looking in the eyes of the people who serve you (waiter, bartender, etc.) and you'll be recognized and treated warmly and respectfully.

Have a nice vacation, the BPT WILL do its part, do yours (relax and be kind) and it will be perfect, paradise on earth. Feel free to ask whatever you want... the BPT is one of my favorite topics these days while I plan my return there on the first days of May.

PS: be sure to book the Mexican and the Oriental restaurants, try the Arrachera on the Mexican and the shrimp stir fry on the Oriental, bon appetit!!
