Looking for food recs in Tulum

Will be staying at Cabanas Tulum 1/28-2/4. We love good authentic food, so I'm looking for food recs in Tulum. I'm open to a range of good spots from the beach front hotel restaurants to moderately priced places in the pueblo, fancier dining, and especially taco stands and street food. We don't plan on renting a car at this time but we don't have a problem taking a taxi into the pueblo. Recs appreciated!

El Tabano has excellent Yucatan cuisine - it is cooked by local women. It's on the jungle side of the beach rd across from Hemingways.

Zamas has an excellent seafood platter from time to time - enough for two to share...local and delicious.

In town, try this place: tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g150813-…

If you want to scout out food carts, look for the covered soccer plaza - behind the police station. Walk back there and you will usually find food carts and take the street running to the south. You need to get back in the neighborhood to find them.

Hi

Spend some time looking in the restaurant reviews here....I did and it really paid off for us. We ate out every night for two weeks and most lunches and only ate at one place we would not recommend.

Here were some of our favorites for nicer dinners:

Be Tulum (make a reservation--by far, our favorite of the trip)

Ginger

Mezzanine

Dos Ceibos (get the shrimp)

Villa Las Estrellas (order the seafood paella)

For lunch

OM's pizza

Mateos

Panchos Grill in Town

Ziggys Beach Club

Have fun!!

We really enjoyed El Camello Jr. when we were in Tulum for our Spanish course last year. Great, fresh seafood at a good price. It is on Av Tulum at Luna Sur in the pueblo of Tulum.

Read the reviews on tripadvisor that have lots of info. On our last trip we went to: Urge Taquito, El Asadero, La Siesta, La Malguerida, Abuela's, Pollo Bronco, La Gloria y Don Pepe, Tomato Seco and Mateo's.

All were good and worth going back to.
