Went last year, end of Nov-early Dec. to get married. We are going again same time this year. Hotel is small but relaxing. Very quiet. Other guests age 30+ mainly couples and a few families (I dont know if this has changed). If you are looking for any nightlife--dont go. Beach long, quiet and one of the better ones for AI in RM. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Food is excellent. Best Ive had in RM (been to many 4* AI). You can go to the a la carte restaurants every day--expect to wait in line though. Sushi good, Asian amazing (especially fish), Italian always a fave. Buffet surprisingly good too.

Lots to do. Ruins, cenotes, snorkelling beaches. Playa del Carmen has good shopping. Its about 40 min towards Cancun. Take collectivo (just stand on highway in front of hotel and white vans that pick up passengers--dont be worried its safe) its $2US. Snorkelling good 50 feet off beach at Freedom Paradise (next hotel to left). Saw stingrays, loads of fish. Snorkelling good at Yal-ku lagoon in Akumal (pay to get in, 20 min toward Cancun). Tulum 10 min (driving) south of hotel. Great beaches, quaint village. There are a couple of good restaurants.

Hope this helps.

Hey Guac,

I think I saw your wedding! I was there last year at the same time. Was your wedding on the beach?

Hello Sungod,

Yes it was on the beach. We got married on Dec. 3rd. We,re going down again this year for our 1st anniversary. It would seem the resort is expanding, so we thought we,ed enjoy the solitude one last time;)

For solitude, I don't think you could pick a better spot. We looked at going back this year, but my wife wanted a little more excitment so we are staying in Cancun. Plus it looks like it has gotten a little more expensive that what we paid last year.

It certainly has gotten more expensive. I wonder if it will be worth the extra $$. I,ll soon find out.

I lov guacamole

when are you going back to the Sunscape? Hope that you have a good time and that the construction is not to bad. As for price, boy it sure has gone up!! A good place to check out is Escapes.ca they have the same trips for a little less doneros. This is how I go and I save quite a bit and have had no problems with them. Watch out for Air Transat though, my first time was through them...They suck big time, messed up alot of my tours, pick up times etc.
