best place to stay in tulum?

Can anyone recommend an upscale, all- inclusive resort in Tulum for a family with teenagers? A beautiful beach and golf are preferred. Money is no object. Thanks!

I have heard that Dreams Tulum (formerly Sunscape) is beautiful and family friendly.

The chain of Palace Resorts have several all-inclusive hotels you may consider. The newest one, Playacar, just opened a few weeks ago. We toured it + ate their (as we were staying at a different Palace hotel, the Adventura Spa Palace and you can use facilities at any of their hotels that way). It is adjacent to Playa del Carmen, the dock for ferries to Cozemel, beautiful beaches, etc. BEAUTIFUL hotel, LOTS to do for teens (and their parents!) in Playa and easy access to the Tulum area. PLAYACAR golf has a signature golf course a block away. In Puerto Aventuras you can arrange to swim with the dolphins. We have stayed in Spa Palace 4 times and plan to go every year.

Tulum has excellent beaches, but the nearest golf course is in Playacar. You might consider looking there first, and making day trips to Tulum.

Tulum's Sunscape or Dreams (whatever it is now) is a great family resort. I felt very safe here with my two kids. If you have active teens they may enjoy the activities during the day. However, there is very little night life at this resort (maybe a good thing). If your kids are sociable and they meet some other teens there, it will make a huge difference. I've said this before, but it's worth repeating: If they order a Coke, taste it. My nine-year-old was served a rum & Coke by mistake. This can really happen anywhere. Good luck in your search!
