 Gran Bahai Principe ?

Are there any other Brits going to this resort from B'ham on 23rd April? What do you think about upgrading the flight , bit expensive but terrible reviews about Thomsonfly? Reading the reviews we seem to be in the minority at this resort. We were in Cancun 10 years ago (much younger!) Thought we would try to be nearer to Playa del Carmen, took the ferry from here to Cozamul (wonderful) We are staying in Club Hacienda think I have now established this is the same as Club Diamond. We are told this section is quieter and smaller but you can still walk (or ride to other facilities) so hopefully got the best of both worlds.

If anyone reading this has been before, is it possible to walk along the beach to Playa del Carmen or indeed any other town or village?

we enjoy walking, especially if there is somewhere to stop along the way. Also will it be warm in the evenings or should we bring a sweater, any other tips would be appreciated .

Hi, I'm not British, but I can help you with a couple of your questions. It will be warm in April, even in the evening, unless they have cooler than usual weather. You might want to bring a sweater along, but hopefully you won't need it. Some of the a la carte restaurants are air conditioned, and you might need it then. I wear strappy tops and shorts or skirts in the evenings and am comfortable, but we're usually back in our room by 10:30m.

The Bahia has a very long shoreline itself, so there is a lot of coast to explore (wear water shoes, the rocky tidepools are fun). Walking north from Club Hacienda you'll pass a lot of other resorts, but it would be quite a walk to reach a town. I remember reading a post from someone on another forum site that tried to walk to Akumal and ended up getting tired and turning back. But it's still a nice walk.

There's a lot of walking around this resort, the pathways are beautiful and you can walk out to the Hacienda to shop.

Hopefully a fellow Brit will chime in on your other questions!

Hi Jilly My husband and i are travelling from manchester on the 18th of april for 19 nights. We are also staying in club diamond/hacieda, as we wanted somewhere quiet. Upgrade is definitely worth it on such a long flight. We stayed at xcaret last april which was fab. Found evenings were just right temp, a bit like warm august evenings here.

juli43, actually you are not a minority at the resort, ran into quite a few Brits and they were amazing, it is split between Canadians which is the majority I have to say, then the British and then the Americans (our neighbours in Canada) and it was very well rounded, lots from the east coast of Canada and they remind me of the English, very funny with their sense of humours...the Bahia is our favourite resort, it is quite a walk to Akumal (the town) in the heat, but it is only $5.00 us per person by cab and I highly recommend it for the beach alone and a few bars they have to sit in the beautiful sun or shade to have a drink or two. In the evenings, it can get a little cool in April, but it was only a couple of evenings and the rest of the 14 days we perfect as Sandinmypants said...we are both lovers of the Bahia, but it all depends on the type of holiday you want. I find PDC and the beach extremely crowded, resort after resort, if you know what I mean, with a resort like the Bahia it has it's own beach, not shared with other resorts. As for the ala cartes, yes sometimes it is quite cold in them, so bring a sweater to wear. You are going to love it.

You are only 25-30 minutes to PDC by colectivo and have the best of both worlds by staying at the Bahia.
