Xcaret vs. Xel-ha

Has anyone been to BOTH these parks? Is it worth going to both? If I had to pick one (with 7&9 y.o. kids), which one? DO you know if the tickets allow "in-out" priveledges?

Hi Arf,

I have been a few times to both Xcaret and Xel-Ha and love them both.

Xel-Ha is more quiet, focussed on relaxation and nature. Its basically

a huge natural aquarium where you can snorkel and see the most

beautiful tropical fish in many sizes and colours. There is a walking

track through the jungle, cenotes (sinkholes) and dolphins.

Xcaret is more of a entertainment park. As Xel-Ha, also focused on

nature, environment and relaxation, but there is much more to see

and to do. Mexican and Maya culture plays a big role and besides learning interesting

things, you will have a lot of fun. Xcaret has a lot of animals, dolphins, an aviary

with tropical birds, jaguars, turtles (huge ones and many baby turtles, they have various programs to save turtles and fun stuff for kids) a beautiful aquarium, horses, pumas, one of the biggest butterfly gardens of the world etc.

You can snorkel here in the underground river, on the beach and so many

things more.

Xcaret has a great show at night with Mexican dance, music and folklore,

the fascinating Mayan ball game and voladores de Papantla and much, much more.

I would say that for kids this is definately the maximum and would

choose it over Xel-Ha. Even if its well worth going to both and visit the ruins

of Tulum, which are close to Xel-Ha.

Enjoy your stay in the beautiful Mexican Caribbean!
