How about the Playa Maya? It is fabulous and right on the beach.

I liked the Playa Maya. However, I have to say that I liked both Mosquito Blue and the Deseo better than the PM.

The Deseo is very trendy looking but not condusive to privacy. Playa Maya or Mosquito Blue would be a better choice.

I have heard that Mosquito Blue is getting to be a bit shabby. You may want to check out Illusion Boutique Hotel it is new this year and a bit pricey.

Does anyone know how old the deseo, Mosquito Blue, and Playa Maya hotels are approximately? The Illusion Hotel looks nice and its new...thanks for the recommendation.

We didn't stay at Deseo or Mosquito Blue personally. But we visited the Deseo Bar and peeked inside Mosquito Blue. I think it depends on what you're looking for. The hotel at Mosquito Blue looked more private and quiet. Deseo is gorgeous, but I'd wonder if you'd be able to get any sleep at night. I'd check out reviews in all the hotels you're interested in and decide what are the amentities that you're looking for.
