I wont post again until we get back.... but anyone travelling in the next weeks... relax... get excited and prepare for a wondeful trip. They are FABULOUS. All the services are open and everyone is amazing. The service is excellent. Request a room in one of the 3 7000 block rooms, these are ocean front.

Everything is absolutely perfect. We have stayed at Sandles, Beaches and Breezes in the past througout the Carribean and by far the service and beauty of the place is nicer than our past travels. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!!!

Will post more and answer questions upon our return on Sunday.

In regards to Scuba: My husband is a Dive Master so he obviously wanted to dive, but since it was our honeymoon being away all day wasnt that appealing either. There is a company onsite, right next to the pool where you can book excursions that are cheaper than through your tour operator (Apple, Conquest etc.) He did a 2 tank cenote dive (this was in caves and caverns... intereting)

In regards to tipping: Tips ARE included in your package, but the service is so exceptional, that honestly, we WANTED to tip... not saying you have to, and I know that the service was excellent everywhere you went, even before we gave them a little extra. I am a believer that if you see someone go over and above, and you can afford it, we tip... the additional $5.00 a night to our waiters for having meals that would have cost over $100 at home seemed fine with us. Dont worry, no one expects a tip.

In regards to the room:

You have a "backyard" of sorts, with a hammock, a second double jaccuzzi and two lounger sun chairs. Then there is a step down directly into the pool there as well. If you are booked into a spa view, I would email them and see if you can get upgraded for ocean view, it's worth asking right? Both are nice, but you are a bit more protected by the buildings on the Spa View locations and those rooms dont get as much sun.

:O)

TheMcRaes: Your pictures are great! It doesn't look like there were too many people in the pools. Do they have any special time for pool hours? Basically I am wondering if you can swim at night? It looks as if the pools are pretty well lit. Thanks for all the help!

THANKS for all of your helpful information!

Any specific comments re: the restaurants & food? Any real standout meals or desserts?

Also, do they offer SCUBA diving and/or snorkeling trips from the resort? Anything included or is it extra $$?

THANKS again for all of your information!

Bill

Pinkee:

I spoke to the reservations group at the hotel recently and they said to email them at reservations@secretsexcellence.com.mx for any information or requests you may have.

Also, hubby and I are booked in a Honeymoon Suite this coming December. If anyone has a chance to stay in one of these rooms or if you have time while you are there and ask to see one, please post on this forum. I'm curious to see what may be different about them besides the size (1,000 sq. ft vs. 700 sq. ft). (For example, are they on a top floor, do they have a patio vs. a balcony, etc.)

Thanks...TT

Thank you all for replying - upon my return I will try to post everything I possibly can about my trip including room details... Thus far I believe this place is going to be great, I am just a bit let down on the beach water, it looks very cloudy... I believe it is because of the area, I looked at pics of resorts close by and it seems to be the same. Had I known, I possibly would have booked right back with Adventura Spa Palace - this is also a great place we stayed on our honeymoon last year and one of the reasons we are heading back to this area.

Pinkee - We stayed at the Spa Palace and were VERY dissappointed in the beach. You'll be much happier with the beach here at S/E and that will make up for the cloudy water. :) If you ever get a chance, check out the Royal Hideaway.....Top rated hotel with awesome beach, ocean, food and service. We enjoyed it very much and have sent several of our friends who have LOVED it. We were going to return there this year, but saw S/E had this new hotel and decided to give it a try since we liked the Punta Cana resort so much. Relax....you'll have a great time!!!

dublt

It sound like you have been to both Secrets Excellence, Punta Cana & now Cancun or are going to be. I just went to S/E Punt Cana in Jan of this year and will be going to S/E Cancun in Dec. I would like to hear your option between the two resorts or anyone who has. Which one did you like better!

Thanks!
