Basically, my reccomendation is:

GO TO SECRETS EXCELLENCE RIVERA CANCUN IF:

1) you enjoy being pampered around the clock with excellent service, room service that is almost immediate, and people catering to your every whim...

2) you enjoy the best food in a beautiful surrounding. We enjoy dressing for dinner, and the restaurants were spectacular... especially the French and the Italian ones!

3) You love gorgeous pools... some were almost deserted there were so many of them!

4) The Spa is something important to you... this one is the best I have seen on any of my travels throughout the Carribean, Asia and North America.

5) You want to be surrounded by gracious people and serene surroundings

STAY HOME OR GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF:

1) You refuse to settle for anything but perfection... even my favorite restaurant in my home town sometimes forgets to pull out my chair when I sit down... these small things can be forgotten by mmyself!

2) Hearing others struggle to communicate with you in a foreign tongue bothers you. these people are learning to speak 2, 3 sometimes 5 different languages to serve guests... I know I could not do as good a job as they do should they visit me in my native country!

3) you dont want to change out of flip flops and shorts. The nicer restaurants require long pants and shoes for men... we saw ALOT of dissapointed people who couldnt eat at the restaurants

We had a great time, and those who have booked will not be dissapointed... remember to tip... we tipped $5.00 each dinner and always a few dollars to the bartenders etc. who helped us through out the day... If you dont get something you want... or they have erred in some small way, simply be polite, explain your problem and they will JUMP to make it better I promise you!!!

We stayed at the Royal Hideaway 2/03. The beach, food and service are all top notch. You will not be disappointed.

Thank you for all of your helpful information. I was wondering about the tipping, thank you for clearing that up. How dressy is the attire for dinner? We too enjoy dressing up for dinner. Did you use the room service at all?

My husband and I will be there Nov. 20 - 27th. A much needed break! (4 teenagers will do that to you) :)

We just arrived home this evening after our vacation to the Secrets Excellence Riviera Cancun. Just a word of advice, if you are choosing between this resort and the Royal Hideaway, choose the Royal Hideaway. The Secrets Excellence is not ready!! We are so happy to be home! We too were down to choosing between the exact two resorts as you and we regret our decision! If given another chance, we would choose the Royal Hideaway without hesitation! We are too tired tonight to give details, but will definitely be posting an extensive review this week. My parents went to the Royal Hideaway October 2003 and raved about how wonderful it was!! In my research of the Royal Hideaway, they have nothing but a stellar reputation. Can you tell that we feel very strongly about this? :)

HI... I know you just returned, but can you elaborate on why we should stay away. We were thinking of changing from Punta Cana to Cancun for our 11/7 vacation. Any words of advice would help.

how about scuba..is there a facility on sight to sign up for diving...does capri have that ..it is in their marketing but not in excellence?? just wondering if that is an activity that is at capri but not a t excellence

I'm a bit confused. I thought Secrets was all/inc which normally includes tips?? We have stayed at several different A/I resorts, & none ever required tipping since you've already paid for that in the A/I rate.

Also, for the McRae's:

Can you tell me more about your swim out room? We are booked in the spa view swim out room, & I was wondering what they mean by private access to pool from room.
