Beautiful resort. But very very large so be prepared to do a LOT OF WALKING or waiting for golf carts to take you around. We stayed in building #60 which was closest to the beach and buffet restaurants and farthest from the lobby with a private pool. We had a partial ocean view facing the jungle and our rooms were very quiet. I had the chance to see both Presidential rooms which were in our building. These rooms are absolutely beautiful and very large with a living room, dining area, very large bedroom, 2 bathrooms one which was very luxurious and kitchenette. There were 2 balconies facing the ocean, 1 off the living area that was huge with comfortable furniture and a large jacuzzi the other off the bedroom. They were not ready for occupancy yet but I asked the price and was told about $300 U.S. per person per night over and above the rate of the junior suite rate. The Iberostar Paraiso resorts are approximately 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen and 30 minutes from Cancun. We did not take a collectivo because I found due to the area of the resort it was not convenient and did not want to stand by the busy highway in the middle of no where. We did take advantage of the Iberobus that took you to Playa del Carmen free of charge. If you take a taxi to Playa del Carmen it is approximately 180 pesos. There are rates of taxis posted at the lobby in the Lindo. To Cancun it was between 300 and 340 pesos. We asked our Signature rep about renting a car and she did not reccommend it due to many accidents that have happend. I just got the feeling that this was not the only reason not to rent a car but did not pursue it further. If there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to ask.

Are there many lounge chairs at the pool and beach...do you have to get up early to get a chair? Did you use the internet there...if yes was it any good? Does the gift shop sell thermal cups for cold drinks? What is there for kids to go at night?

There are plenty of lounge chairs and papalas around the pool and on the beach. You don't have to get up at 6:00 am to get one. My son used the internet to talk to his friends on msn but because we have a Mac computer at home and the msn version was not the latest he could not get into it. As a welcome gift we were given thermal cups with the Iberostar name on them along with a few other gifts. I will leave that a surprise for when you get there. Every evening they have a show a the Lindo put on by the Star Friends. The kids seemed to have fun at the end of the show getting up on stage and dancing. One night they had an Aladdin show. Depending how old the children are there is also pool tables.

I would just like to say that all these comments are based on my own personal experiences and my own opinion. Everyones opinion will differ and just serves as a guideline.

Yes, this is true. It will be the Iberostat Palace. Not too sure when it will be completed. I think somewhere around the end of 2006. They are also building a huge disco and strip mall of some sort. We cannot say enough about this fab. resort. We were at the Lindo for two weeks, got home on the 30th of January. We did alot of walking around all four of the resorts. I would be also happy to answer any questions.

I don't want to be picky about a free gift...but does the thermal cup have a straw?...I love to drink slushy drinks so a thermal cup with a straw works way better. What is the dress code for dinner for kids...my sons are 6 and 12. Does the resort have floating devise for the lazy river or do you have to been something with you? Do you know if there is a wal mart close to the resort? Counting the days now until I leave...16 more days to go.

The thermal mugs don't have straws but you can just get one from any of the bars. As far as kids for dinner they can wear shorts, there is no dress code for them I guess as long as it is not a bathing suit. There are flotation devices at the lazy river, I think there were both single and double ones. As far as a Wal-mart you probably have to go into Cancun which is 30 minutes away.

We're booked at the Maya mid May.

My question is, are all the Iberostars side by side? Do they each have their own beach or is it one large shared beach?

I'm having a hard time conceptualizing how these 6 resorts with an other one being built all fit together.

If we're able to eat at any of the Iberostar restaurants, we were curious as to how far apart they are from each other.

I apologize ahead of time if this is a repetitive question.

sunlover: there is a WalMart in PDC, I believe.

pixie: This aerial view of the Iberostar resorts might help you conceptualize it.

The Beach, del Mar, Lindo and Maya are all side by side along the same stretch of beach. The Maya is on the left and the Beach is on the far right. Pools separate the Maya/Lindo and the del Mar/Beach. They have a shuttle that will take you to the lobby of each property if you'd rather not walk.

The Quetzel and Tucan are on the other side of PDC next to each other.

Oh I wish I knew there was a Wal-mart in Playa del Carmen. You learn something new everyday. It is about 20 minutes from the Maya then.
