Beautiful resort. But very very large so be prepared to do a LOT OF WALKING or waiting for golf carts to take you around. We stayed in building #60 which was closest to the beach and buffet restaurants and farthest from the lobby with a private pool. We had a partial ocean view facing the jungle and our rooms were very quiet. I had the chance to see both Presidential rooms which were in our building. These rooms are absolutely beautiful and very large with a living room, dining area, very large bedroom, 2 bathrooms one which was very luxurious and kitchenette. There were 2 balconies facing the ocean, 1 off the living area that was huge with comfortable furniture and a large jacuzzi the other off the bedroom. They were not ready for occupancy yet but I asked the price and was told about $300 U.S. per person per night over and above the rate of the junior suite rate. The Iberostar Paraiso resorts are approximately 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen and 30 minutes from Cancun. We did not take a collectivo because I found due to the area of the resort it was not convenient and did not want to stand by the busy highway in the middle of no where. We did take advantage of the Iberobus that took you to Playa del Carmen free of charge. If you take a taxi to Playa del Carmen it is approximately 180 pesos. There are rates of taxis posted at the lobby in the Lindo. To Cancun it was between 300 and 340 pesos. We asked our Signature rep about renting a car and she did not reccommend it due to many accidents that have happend. I just got the feeling that this was not the only reason not to rent a car but did not pursue it further. If there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to ask.

Do you have any pics? I am getting married at the Lindo in November and can never see enough pictures! Thanks!

Welcome back. I sincerely appreciate you offering to answer questions. We are leaving tomorrow for the Maya. The comments and information on this Forum have done a lot to help me feel more comfortable about this trip, and it is even nicer to get current, up-to-the-minute news.

How was the pool....was it warm enough for your liking? How about the beach - was the red flag up much?

Is there anything that you found out about too late, such as a restaurant you heard great things about but did not try, or an on-site activity or watersport that you wished you had gone to or done?

Other than PDC, did you go anywhere else? What did you do mostly?

Was your concierge very helpful in answering questions, or did you need to the lobby to ask?

It sounds like Bldg 60 would be perfect for us too. Did you ask for Bldg 60 when you arrived?

I was wondering where the Presidential suites were. Would you have paid the extra to stay there one night?

I have a gazillion more questions, but will stop there.

Tks.

SCP yes I have pictures but they are mostly the same as what people have posted. Val and Bill have great pics on their website. Saw a few weddings and they were very nice.

Sam&Max: The pool area is very large and refreshing. The temperature was fine a little cool when you first got in. The beach was red flag a few days and yellow a few days. We did not go to the beach everyday but regardless people were still in the ocean. It is winter in Mexico that is why it is a bit rough. The concierge was very helpful I think she is there from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Make sure to book all your restaurant selections when you arrive. The Gourmet and Japaneese are great. We were just given #60 when we arrived the only thing that we requested prior was that we have the 3rd floor. Though the Presidential suites were beautiful I would not spend an extra $600US per night on the room. They were not available to use at the time we were there, they were doing a few finishing touches. The Presidental suites are located in building #60 ocean view 3rd floor. We took the tour to Xel-ha it was I think $83.00 per person and spent the whole day there. We had a lot of fun and there is a lot to see and do and did not see everything. You can go on your own it is $56.00 all inclusive per person then you have to find transportation there whether it be a taxi $50.00 U.S. each way or a collectivo which is a few dollars. I found since the resort really was not close to anything the tour was less of a hassle. Just make sure if you go with the tour do not stand in line at the first snorkel stop, there are others. You can bring biodegradable sunscreen from home. I brought Hawaaian tropic which I bought at Zellers. A great place to snorkel is Parrot Lagoon. Just ask and someone will show you where it is. There were 3 giant parrot fish in the lagoon along with numerous other fish. Also there are many iguanas lounging in the sun. Another tour we took was the Dolphin swim in the Interactive Aquarium in Cancun. I just watched and my son and father-in-law swam with the dolphins. They had a great time. It is located in the La Isla Shopping Village. It is a great place to shop. Of course this is just my personal opinion with all that I have said. Have a great trip and if you think of anything else I will be happy to try and help you.

Where else did you eat? What Maya restaurants are exclusive to Maya's guests?

We are thinking of going to Xel Ha, however my wife has an injured knee. Is there anything at Xel Ha that can hold her interest?

Where did you book your tour from?

Thanks

My husband and I have just booked 1 week AI at the Maya for mid May. We've never been to Mexico and have never experienced "ALL INCLUSIVE". I have so many questions to ask, and lucky for me, just found this forum a few days ago. I'm hoping you "experienced" travelers to the Mayan Riviera will be around to share your experiences and knowledge of the area.

Fjm61: We also ate at the Seafood and Cajun restaurants. The Maya Gourment and Seafood were exclusive to the Maya guests. We were not too impressed with the Seafood restaurant. As far as the Cajun my husband, son, and father-in-law enjoyed their steak. I ordered the grouper and wasn't to fond of it. Your wife could float down on a tube down the river in Xel-ha. It was also fun to watch the fish in the water from the different bridges. There is also a hammock area to relax or you can enjoy watching the dolphins.

Fjm61: We booked our tour through our rep from signature vacations. Your rep would have tours also. If you didn't book a charter there are people near the front lobby that could sell you a tour.

What did most people where to the restaurants? I also read that The Gourmet is dressier - by how much? Did it get very cool at night (ie. long sleeves/jacket needed)?

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer questions!

We are two families travelling to the Maya in April.....When you say big, do you mean Atlantis big or smaller? What else is there to do for kids? Is it safe for 14 year olds to walk around by themselves? Where can I find pictures? Did you visit any ruins? Thanks so much.

Thanks for offering to answer questions! Are there buildings that are a lot further away than others? I know the one you were in is good, but i'm wondering if there are any that aren't so good?

Thanks!!! I'm so excited to go...will be heading down in May..
