Sandos Playacar Construction Update

Can anyone advise how the construction is going at Sandos Playacar and which area of the resort is being affected? Also how much longer before it's complete?

Thx.

You would be surprised at the construction if you had been at the resort before. There is currently big green boards on both sides of the sidewalk through the Hacienda area. It was always a good hike from the Riviera section to the meeting point as you would follow the "white line" sidewalk. However the enclosed walkway makes it almost claustrophobic as you pass through the Hacienda section. On a sunny day there is no breeze and it gets mighty warm through there. Parents wheeling carriages through there would be advised to consider alternatives during the heat of the day. It is enough to make a baby cry.

Instead of walking go to the lobby in Riviera and take the vans/carts to the meeting point palapa. It'll take longer but they drive around the construction. The other alternative is to get a room in the beach section. From the meeting point palapa to the beach the construction is over.

The refurbished bathroom is ok (no paper towels) but no bigger than before. There is a definite lack of toilet facilities between the meeting point palapa and the ocean. The new "BB" Bagel Bar has no toilet either. It is good the ocean is handy.

The beach now (starting from the north end) is a water sport stand (the old Select Club bar) and then the general population beach to beach mid-point. Then there is the "owners" section (black band), a section of a dozen or so tables and the BB, and then the Select club beach area (gold band). I am sure they will be updating the lounge chairs and food offerings at the BB but you can get a drink and a hot dog or burger or make a sandwich on crusty bun. The sand is wide to the water so lots of room for beach games and antics.

Once in the water there are no rocks but the bottom is uneven getting deeper and shallower in places as you walk out into the ocean. Not many people enjoying the water especially on a "red flag" day. The beach is the same pretty much all along Playacar.

When will the big green boards be taken down in the Hacienda construction area? We will be there in 3 weeks...hoping construction is complete by then.

Quite sure the green boards will come down before long....not to say how long before some/all units are done. They can still work on the interiors without the green walls. IMHO they always try for maximum number of rooms available for the high season.

Sandos Caracol has green board construction going on currently also. They also seem to have a few buildings still doing the interior fixes...and are working 24/7.

This sounds promising for our vacation in a little over 2 weeks. Anyone know when the green board walls will be taken down?

I was hoping Sandos Webrelations would post here on TA when the green boards would be taken down, as I'm sure others are interested as well...

Hola

Thanks Enrique for your update on the construction. We had no problem with the walk though the Hacienda section during anytime of the day in our October stay. Noise or heat issues.

Looking to return for our 12x stay at the resort.

True facts again, the refurbished bathroom at the side of the Iztapalapa bar/restaurant are bigger than before and have hand blowers to dry your hands off. LOL

More ECO friendly IMO.
