“ real playa carmen hotel (formerly club bananas), feedback? ”

hi,

our funjet agent recommended the REAL PLAYA CARMEN HOTEL, formerly club bananas, to us.

since she booked our last 2 vacations to PDC/and cozumel, we booked w/o hesitation. we are to go in early october 2004.

BUT.....

Funjet first gave a rating of 4 stars, then now when i checked, it's 2.5 stars. on it's own website, realresorts.com.mx, it rated it 4 stars. so i am confused.

does you or anyone you know been or seen the place? i really would like to assurance or know what i am getting myself into.

I stayed at Club Bananas last year over Labor Day weekend. It's a smaller hotel, but we really liked it. It's a little bit of a walk to the beach club, or you can take the bananas bus (we always walked). We had fun there and the pool was almost always empty. I'm not sure if things have changed since the management change, but we had no problems whatsoever. Seems to be a popular place with the Euorpean crowd.

I haven't been to the hotel but today I was looking for it in the internet and saw it in a web page called mexico.com.mx ... they had a pretty good description of it. Also saw other kind of hotels --- I mean have you already booked with bunjet or you can still change your vacation hotel? Hope you have fun Playa del Carmen!

thank you all for your response. i did buy the pre-penalty travel waiver so i can change (with a small penalty). i continue to welcome more feedback!

i am looking for a smaller intimate place w/ a nice beach for my husband and 3 year old toddler.

we have been to occidental flamingco xcaret and allegro playacar in PDC, so we wanted to try something different.

i heard there is new management. how's that?
