Skelly1 ~

The bracelet does NOT enable you to visit sister resorts. We did ask about this and were unable to do so. I stayed at the Allegro Cozumel last year and loved it....however, it didn't compare to the Grand Xcaret. Cozumel was absolutely beautiful though....would make a great day trip for shopping, snorkeling...rent a jeep and tour the island....AMAZING views!!

Stevie512- 3 weeks to go!!!!!!! We'll see ya there. My son took his snorkeling lesson this weekend and he is so psyched!

So Maxwellhouse - we should request rooms on the 2nd floor? Wonder why the 1st floor smelled musty? But, will take the opinion and request a 2nd floor room.

Thanks.

I would imagine just about all first floors got a bit musty from the hurricane. I understand they have more creepy crawlies too. We requested second floor -- hopefully we'll get it.

I leave on Monday from Chicago's O'Hare airport....anyone else going next week too? I am looking for some kids that can play with my kids there. My daughters are ages 7 & 10.

Also, are the bugs really bad there? I have MAJOR bug phobias and I live in Wisconsin where it isn't very bad. The first sight of a spider and I am running as fast as you can believe!

I am just so excited for this trip I can't wait!!!

I doubt the bugs will be that bad, especially if you're not on the first floor. I don't really have a bug phobia but I certainly don't like them. I was mainly concerned about tarantulas and scorpions, but after reading a bunch of posts on different forums about creepy crawlies, I feel a little better. It does not sound likely that you'll encounter them. Tons of iguanas and geckos (which are harmless), but probably no really scary bugs. My advice would be to shake out your shoes before putting them on your feet wherever you may be (room, pool, etc.) and don't leave things you're going to wear on the floor. My Dad got bit by a strange spider that gave him a strange reaction on his toe here in the States, so you just never know. (he was putting on his sandals at a campground pool) Another helpful tip I read was to hang any wet bathing suits etc. outside your room b/c spiders are attracted to dampness. If you're really paranoid, you can close your sink drain and put a washcloth over your shower drain -- I read that tip somewhere too. And I always look at the bed before hopping in at night in any hotel ... just in case.:)

I never encountered any "creepy crawlers" while staying here. There are a lot of iguanas....and some gecos. I HATE spiders and didn't see any. In general, the bottom floor tends to be a little more "musty" and attract unwanted guests at any resort. I was on the 3rd floor and had no problems at all.

I could have missed it somewhere, but are beach towels availible at the hotel? Just one less thing I have to try and fit in my suitcase... lol. If so, what's the process involved with getting one? Thanks

Holidays vary from time to time. I was very grateful to be referred to www.brentmidlock.com prior to planning a trip to the Occidental Grand Xcaret. It was an easy decision not to patronize.
