 royal porto real

This will be my second trip to playa del carmen, and this time I will be staying at Royal Porto Real, and some friends of mine are thinking of staying at Gran Porto Real. If anyone has stayed at either of these hotels, I would appreciate knowing if you can walk from one to the other. Thanks!

We stayed at the RPR in November. Very nice. Right across the street from the GPR. We toured the Gran Porto Real & it was very nice as well (no jacuzzi's in room like RPR) and Royal Porto Real has a nicer beach. The food is fantastic at the RPR.

I've stayed at both. I prefer the palapas at the GPR and the hotel itself better than the RPR(and its cheaper). What I do is stay at GPR and walk the 100 meters or so to swim at the RPR. The RPR doesnt have a very nice setup for relaxing on the beach. They have beds that are enclosed(really dumb looking) to tan on and I rarely saw anyone use them.

Hello!

I stayed at both hotels in october, and I must say that Gran Porto Real is much more cosy and intimate than Royal Porto Real. But of course RPR is a bit more luxurious, and the room are nicer, but I thought the atmosphere at GPR was better.Very very nice hotel. At RPR you had to walk very long distances to get to anything(places) at the hotel. The restaurants at both hotels was great. You can eat at both places,I think. But in the end you will have a great time no matter wich hotel you choose. You only pay more for it at the RPR.Thats my experience, because I think both hotels where absolutely fantastic.

Enjoy your holiday.

We stayed at GPR for the last 2 years,we love it..our friends were wtih us and decided to upgrade and stayed over at Royal, they are going back for 2 weeks this year,it is gorgeous,we were able to use the Royal pool, and restaurants, but that has since changed. We love the location so close to 5th Ave, you will love it..

we did not stay in either, but we walked by both every day and I peaked in them for future reference. They are upgrating Grand and if the price is cheeper I would choose it. Beach is not too bad and the other beach is few steps away. Location is great- close to all the action. Fun place to be.

Just returned yesterday.

Just got back from GPR and they are right across the street from each other. I hated GPR as the staff are not friendly and actually lied to us about room service not costing anything! I would stay at RPR the beach is a lot nicer and it doesn't smell bad like the GPR.

In my opinion RPR is the better choice. A better beach, rooms and nicer staff from my experience.
