My boyfriend and I stayed here last year (November 2003). This is definately the most beautifuel resort we've stayed at! I've been to Cuba, Punta Cana (DR) and Venezuela and this was by far the best!!! The resort is huge but there are shuttle busses that take you around...sometimes you have to wait 10mins. If you decided to walk it woudn't be that much slower! Staying at the Tulum side we also had access to the Akumal side, very nice also but I prefered our side better. We stayed one week and probably saw about 50% of the resort. Make sure you visit Playa del Carmen....beautiful beachfront and plenty of shopping!!! We also did a day trip to Cozumel...very nice also. The Jeep Jungle tour was also a blast. As for your question, we didn't stay in a suite we had the standard room. Very nice, clean and very roomy. Tip your maid $5 at the start of your trip and you'll never have any problems (not that we even heard anyone complain). Food was great at all restaurants...can't imagine anyone being so picky that they wouldn't find anything to eat! The Hacienda Shopping area was also fun, shopping and entertainment every night!
