Has anyone had any problems with noise due to the construction next door? Were the staff accommodating? Anything I should be aware of? I will be there on Jan 20 - 27th Tks for the heads up!

Hi Ktoft, they are building another hotel next to the Azteca. It is not part of the Azteca.

This construction was going on while we stayed at the Azteca in early December. Although our room was on that side of the hotel, we were totally unaffected by the construction - except my husband was very interested in it :-)) We could hear the noise from the construction a little from the beach, but not enough to ruin anyone's good time. Does anyone know what resort this will be?

true? not 100% sure.

anything else I should know abou the Azteca? should the construction be finished by June? If not...what side(s) or rooms should be avoided?

The construction in the area north of the VA was the renovation of a beach club which formally belonged to the Caribbean Village... It was purchased & renovated by Riu... It is now the Riu Lupita... The Lupita is in the middle of the golf course, not on the beach...

The remodel of the beach club is now completed...

However, since the club is only a small part of an empty beachfront property, rumor has it the Riu will be building a new hotel... Only a rumor at this time!

NewTravelbug or anyone that has been to Azteca in Jan/Feb 05-what's the situation with the construction.Read one terrible review about it and no one else seemed to have much of a problem with it.Did you hear it at the pool and was it bothersome at all?Would appreciate a thorough "review" as it brings about UNWANTED images of the big getaway!Thanks a whole bunch!!!!
