I would really like to try a rental car for this trip --- it would be nice to just jump in the car and run to Walmart or whatever. We are going to Coba and Xel-Ha for sure-- I think that would make for a more relaxed experience overall.

We are staying at Sandos Playacar, how does the guard at the Playacar gate know to let you pass?? Do we show reservation confirmation?

Has anyone used a Garmin GPS there, or rented a car with a GPS already in it?? Which company if yes. We have been to Playa six times and I'm familiar with the area, but that would really push it over the top for me. The GPS thing would make me feel secure enough about not getting lost while exploring the area.

We get into Cancun early, and maybe for once, we could check out Cancun before heading south-- or stop and see Puerto Morales, it really opens up a lot of possibilities that we might not try without our own car.
