My daughter and I stayed at the Viva Maya app. four years ago. It is very pretty and the staff is very nice. Beautiful beach!! The rooms smell musty, but all the resorts I stayed in smell the same. An ocean view room is nice. Small balcony, but very nice to sit and watch the ocean. The food was O.K., not a huge selection, but good. You will have a nice shopping area, kind of accross from your resort. Do take a cab into town, especially at night. Very safe!! Lots of music, shops. We went into town almost every night.

I was booked here but we decided to change. It seemed that we wanted something a little more upscale for our 1 year anniversary. I looked into Gala Resort and wanted Royal Club. Then I read the reviews and we decided on the property directly next to the Gala which is the Iberostar Tucan. Better reviews more to see.
