Which is the better of the two?

Barcelo Tropical or Colonial (or are they the same)?

The Colonial is a little better out of the two.

Really good beach at the I. Tucan / Quetzal. They also have a really good kids program, but not sure how small they can take them.

How far is the Tucan from downtown Playa Del Carmen? What about the Colonial?

The Tucan is only 2 miles...very close taxi ride ($5.00).

The Barcelo Tropical and Colonial is in Puerto Juarez, which is about 20 minutes.

Which pools would appeal more to little ones? Would you rank any of the resort beaches mentioned, above the others?

Well, the Tucan is my favorite, but the Barcelo now has a waterpark, which would be good for the kids.

Both beaches are very nice.
