 Solo 38 y/o female- Hotel wish list

Okay, I am narrowing down the location and amenites that I would like if possible in a hotel room. Any recommendations for one of the smaller hotels (less than 50 rooms) in the North section somewhere between Calle 20 and 32 that has kitchenette or kitchen, tv, is quiet, is clean/bright, is safe, has a friendly staff? Thanks ahead of time for all of your suggestions.

Thanks, any personal favorites? There seems to be so many choices, that's a good thing.

DianaP, what about a condo? I'm renting one in Playacar near the new Paseo mall. The owner will even take me for free to the grocery store. If you want the information, just PM me. It's really inexpensive. I am going over Easter week, which is high season too.

Otherwise, my favorite hotel options (and I researched them all):

* Hotel Eclipse

* Luna Blue

* Tropical Casablanca

* Hotel Jungla Caribe

I received very prompt e-mails from these hotels and they were very friendly and informative. Some include breakfast as well.

It can get expensive (more so than staying at an all-inclusive) because you have to add in the tax, plus an additional charge (6%) for using a credit card.

Good luck!

Tropical Casablanca just got a great review on this site and looks like it might be what you're looking for.

Thank you, this information helps me narrow down the choices a bit. Some of the hotels that I had researched looked good but then they get mixed reviews. What is the story with the noise down there. Do a lot of the hotels near the clubs/restaurants get noise or does it depend on the room that you are in? Okay, back to the hotel search.

If you stay in the town, you might here street noise or noise from the clubs. It's hard to avoid depending on the location of the hotel.

At Hotel Eclipse, it's a bit further back, so you shouldn't encounter too much noise. Luna Blue and Tropical Casablanca won't have too much noise either. I also got great responses from Hotel Kinbe and Posada Freud, but those hotels do have a lot of noise and I need to get up early for class.

Another option is Playa Maya, which is on the beach. Shouldn't be too noisy either.

I researched all of those hotels and have been to Playa many times, so I have seen most of them. I also used Map Chick's map to see what her suggestions were as well.

I really think if you book any that we have mentioned so far in response to your question, that you will have a great time.
