have you done a search? This hotel is mentioned in a A TON in posts by people. Many people who love it and a few who don't.

yes I did but wanted to see if I could chat with someone who has been there to ask a few questions like is it safe for my ddaughter & I to go shopping without husband/Dad. and a few questions about the rooms

Hi Valerie - My husband and were at Playa Maya in February and will be returning in November. Count us among the folks that really enjoyed the place. It is not fancy, but the rooms are very comfortable, clean and attractive. The beach is excellent there and it is really nice to know that you can have a lounge chair and umbrella when you want it -- no towel game here. The breakfast is good and the setting for eating it is fantastic.

We both felt very safe in the tourist areas near the hotel. I shopped by myself on several occassions, once in the evening too -- no problem. We are a couple in our 50's and are bring some of our friends back with us next time.

And I think there are going to be a bunch of next times.

Your hubby will need more than a book if you and his 17 yr old daughter go shopping on 5th.... Several large drinks and a place to hide his credit card would be a good start. PS...popped in to say hi to Steve last week one evening while attempting to locate my wife on 5th. He wasn't there. Eventually located wife 2 hours later. She hadn't bought anything but indulged in some profesional looking. She made up for the lack of buying later.

This hotel is wonderful, I was there in December, and will be going back this Nov or Dec. You and your daugher will be safe shopping and walking around town without your husband. If you have any specific questions about the hotel, feel free to ask.

Yep been there and going back next week. Please tell us your must/wants in a hotel. It might be easier to answer if it is the place for you.

When will you be there? we will be in PDC sat` for a week. Going to Playa maya for coconut shrimp, shrimp tacos & Marg`s. Life is good.

My wife and I stayed there last December. It was great. I wrote a review.

We aren't big "hang around on the beach" people. We get ADHD as soon as we get on the plane..............

So we pretty much just slept there, had breakfast, then left.
