 grand palladium kantenah

my husband and i will be staying at the grand palladium from june 2-9th and we were wondering if anyone could give us any recommendations of what section of rooms to stay in. we'd like something close to the beach since that's where we'll spend the majority of our time. we'd also like to be near the gym if possible or the buffets/food. we don't want to spend all of our time walking everywhere. :) most importantly though, it would be great to be near the beach. also, would you recommend being on the first floor or third or what? any sections you'd avoid? PLEASE HELP US FIND A GREAT ROOM LOCATION! :) thanks in advance!

I suggest you do a google search for Palladium Addicts.

They have a huge website devoted to this resort and a very active and friendly forum.

Hi...

we just got back from the Kantenah... if you don't know about the resort its actually 4 resorts in 1... Kantenah, Coloniel, White Sand and Riviera... this resort is quite large... like the reviews posted here, there is a lot of walking, but that didn't bother us... The best beach at the resort would have to be behind the Kantenah, its not crowded at all, and there's a bar right on the beach... never a problem getting lounge chairs... The beach area right behind the main pool is very crowded... and the beach area at the southern end of the property behind White Sands and Riviera was pretty rocky... although they do have a salt water swimming pool at that end, which was pretty quiet...

as for our room, we upgraded to the Mayan Suites, which opened up right onto the sand... as for the regular rooms and jr suites at the Kantenah, i suggest 3rd floor... just because you would be above the trees and see more from your balcony...

As for the gym/spa (same building)... its a hike from the Kantenah, its closer to the White Sands and Riviera lobbies... we were in building 38 which at the northern end of the property and i'd say its a good 10 minute walk to the gym and spa from where we were... and if you have dinner reservation at the White Sands / Riviera, its a little bit longer of a walk... if walking is a problem, they do have two trolleys running...
