Although I haven't stayed at the Tucan I have stayed at the Paraiso Beach and imagine they are the same. You can go out to the pool whenever you wake up but the towel shed doesn't open until 8 or 8:30am. If you're an early bird do as I did and turn your towel in at the end of the day and get a clean towel for the following day. The pool closes at 6:PM.

Pickle56, the first time I visited the Tucan, I was upset that the pool closed so early. The reason is that they shut down to do a thorough cleaning.

After visiting resorts in other destinations, I now have an appreciation for the fact that the Iberostar does this. Imagine swimming in a pool with a bunch of little toddlers in diapers, cigarette butts and plastic cups floating by and no pool cleaning! Yikes, I wanted to run right back to the Tucan.

So, although it seems like a huge disappointment at first, we should be thankful. And, need I mention the pool bar. LOL

The 6pm clsoing time didn't hurt me. I'm on the beach before 9:30 and that's after breakfast and a couple of bloody marys at the lobby bar. After a day in the sun, ocean and hanging by the bar, when 4pm rolls around it's time for this gut to go have a siesta up in the room before hitting the lobby bar again prior to dinner.

The Iberostar resorts are so clean. Also by 5:00PM or 5:30PM you are really ready to go back and take a shower to begin the evening dinners, Lobby Bar, theater etc. I think 6:00PM was perfect and like MJo says those people who have been parked at the pool bar all afternoon aren't going to get up as often as they should to go to the bathroom (if you know what I mean). Cleaning is a good thing on that note.
