Anyone just back from Viva Wyndham Azteca? |
|
If anyone recently came back from this hotel, I would love to hear from you. We are going April 7 - 14 and was wondering about the beach, night life, food, drinks and anything else you can tell us. Thanks!! |

I am going back for my 2nd time April 19-24. I went last April and loved it. My husband really liked it too and suggested we go again this year. We liked the small size, not a mega resort. It has beautiful views, great drinks and friendly staff. People complain about the lack of beach, but it's not the resorts fault that a hurricane took most of it away. I thought the beach was just fine, especially compared to the 2 resorts on either side. Look at the reviews at the link above. I have a review posted in Nov., I think. It has pictures posted with it to give you an idea of the place. I'm looking forward to trying some of the ala carte restaurants as the only one we tried was the italian one in PDC and it was great. There are a lot of italians & germans that stay there but that was part of the fun, especially watching a group from our balcony playing bocce ball and singing.

Hi Tibbs, What is there to do at the resort at night? Is there a disco? Was there a reason that you did not go to the ala cartes as I have done some reading where other posters have said it is hard to get reservations. We will be there April 7 - 14 so if there's no alcohol left when you get there, blame it on us!!!

We are going on Monday for 9 days. I will write back after we get back.

marxada, Hope your trip is wonderful and I will look forward to your review when you return. 21 day to go for me!!

Amy, Part of the reason we didn't do ala carte's is that we were only there for Thurs-Mon. Thurs we got there at dinner time and left Mon. in the morning, so really only 3 nights for dinner. We did the Viva Cafe in PDC and enjoyed it, even though it was an upcharge. The thing I missed was authentic mexican food like I had when we went to Ixtapa, so I hope to try the ala carte at Viva Maya plus go into PDC or over to Cozumel one night. There wasn't a huge line to sign up for ala carte rest. when we were there. I think it's a little past prime season. We didn't do much at night, I was 48 and hubby 51 last year, and were often tired from sun, ocean and drinking all day. We did go to a couple of the shows the staff puts on and although hokey, they were fun. I've heard that the Blue Parrot in PDC is the place to hang out at night. It's a $5 cab ride or you can walk. We took a cab there last time and walked back.
