My husband & I will be going 04-14 thru 04-21. We are very excited & can't wait for the much needed vacation. This is our first trip to the Gulf, we've been to Puerto Vallarta & loved it - thought we'd try somewhere different.

I know the beaches are still being rebuilt. Any other info about the resort or area? Any gems? Any tours that we absolutely need to go on?

As you can tell, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,

Sunni

Sunni,

I went there in July and absolutely loved it.

If you're flying into Cancun -taking the Riviera ADO bus to Playa - its only $11 and its a nice coach bus. From there you can easily grab a taxi from the bus station for $5 to Allegro. The resort is maybe a mile from the city - great shopping, amazing restaurants and outdoor bars. So its a safe walk, but if its mid day you'll be drained and will want to save ur walking for the city.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and the resort isn't so big that u feel lost. It's a simple walk to either the beach or the main building, no matter where you are.

There are two pools - one by the beach and the bar and one for relaxation. We just hung by the pool or the beach most of the day since its so hot and there is always activities going on during the day. The snack/ lunch buffet is right by the bar. The beach really isn't that bad. I was expecting a lot worse. It is kind of narrow compared to other resorts - but it has all you need: plently of palapas for shade and plenty of lounge chairs. We never had a problem getting one. The offer free activites like kayaks, boogie boards, catamarans, and there is also pay activities like parasalier and jetskiers right there too.

The main bar is where everyone spends their time. -Poolside. There are a couple bars but I noticed they were open weird hours. Mostly, because everyone is by the pool during the day. There was a bar near the buffet area inside the lobby upstairs. Also, a bar outside at night near the lobbty,

The buffet in the main building is where we ate breakfast every day and dinner most nights. They have an ala carte mexican restaurant - which is actually just the lunch time buffet area covered in linens. People were still swimming in the pool and walking around in bathing suits, so I wasn't impressed. There's also "an Italian restaurant "- which is actually just tables poolside. We ate at both and enjoyed both. Food was good and service was fantastic and it was nice to be near the water at night for dinner.

We stayed a whole week and wanted to make the most of the hotel, the food, the booze and the sun. So we stayed at the hotel all but 2 day. One day we went on an excursion- snorkeling and ziplining with edventure - a private tour - which was AMAZING and such a great price.

If you search my name in the forum - u will see my review on Edventure tours.

One day we went to cozumel - $22 ferry ride from the city - and a half day or two we checked out the city.

Spend the day at the hotel, lay in the sun, enjoy the food, booze and relazation, then shower and head out to town for the night. You won't regret it. I would definitely go back.
