October travel - is everything open

Planning a trip the first part of October. Was wondering if everything will be open or will there be restaurants and stores closed? Hubby and I have been to Isla before. Bringing the adult daughters to share in our fun. Want them to be able to experience the island!

Only a few things are closed. Cafe hidalgo might be, one yr it was nov, one yr it was Oct. Not sure of others. It's a nice quiet time to go as long as there isn't a hurricane. You might want trip insurance.

Yes, a few restaurants will be closed but not a lot. We were there in mid to late Oct. and Mango and Cafe Hildago were both closed...Qubanos was closed for a few days as Vivian went to Fla to vote...we still found plenty of places to eat. Weather was good - a few days windy but we just spent them at the bach clubs on the southern end. You might get a discount on a golf cart...pools and sea are warm and not packed. You will love it! Write a trip report!

We travel in September and find the same situation described by workfortrips--one or two places closed but not everything closes at the same time. It depends when owners have vacation plans, or whether they're doing off-season remodeling, etc. Some places do have fairly established patterns--Jax and Soggy Peso, for instance are always closed in September when we're there.

We were in Isla in the beginning of March for our first visit, and like everyone predicted, we are already planning to go back...thinking maybe September. Less chance of hurricanes in Sept. than October? I will spend my time now looking for "deals". Thank you again to everyone on this forum for helping plan a great vacation....now we're addicted like you! Thanks :)

Yes, while the hurricane season is officially June through November, it really peaks in October. We travel in early September each year and thus far the only hurricane problems we've run into have been flight delays due to weather in the US--the remnants of hurricanes that did not visit Isla. It also helps NOT to fly through Miami for this very reason--you could hit rough weather there.
