Whats your favorite restaurant

I am wanting to know what is everyone's favorite is on the island.

After seeing some of your post and seeing that i was misinformed about only eating on resorts and NEVER eating off them i am starting to get excited about eating now.

Bistro Francaise owned by a lovely local man, Victor. Great food!

Brisas Grill for tikin xic for two

Olivia for really good food in a romantic, candle-lit garden

Oooooo. This is one of the favorite topics of this board.

Bally hoo for fish tacos

Picus for all things seafood

Poc Chuc on Jaurez for guacamole, panuchos, salbutes

Cafe hidalgo for crepes, coffee, espresso, fruit, sandwiches

Enjoy tasting your way around the island. There are so many amazing restaurants in all price ranges.

Notice nobody is naming just one? Can't do it because Isla is such a great food destination. My favorites, in no (conscious) order:

Bally-Hoo for fish tacos.

The cochinita pibil, a sort of Mayan pulled pork, available Sundays only at the public market.

La Lomita for their black bean soup.

Mango Cafe (mid island) for their French Toast, which is really more like a cross between souffle and bread pudding.

Qubano for Cuban sandwiches and Hungarian Potatoes.

Barlito for paninis that will fill you up for the day.

I recommend that you order a mapchick map at www.cancunmap.com. You'll see all the restaurants and other attractions. It's the best $10 you could spend.

Ooh, Jetskigirl reminded me: Cafe Hidalgo. The best breakfast crepes, omelets, and lattes or capuccinos. Also agree with Poc Chuc for terrific, inexpensive authenticl local cooking.

Cafe Hildalgo for breakfast.

I can't stop thinking about the lobster pizza at Brisas Grill, my favorite dish on the Isla.

Do drinks at Soggy Peso count as a restaurant :)

Another vote for Picus for seafood , and Cafe Hildalgo for crepes and the best cup of coffee on Isla.

If your craving a great burger Jax is the place. Barlito's has some fantastic desserts also...

Safe travels...jimmy

Are all of these places open in September? I will be with my wife and she and I love to eat local food...but I know this is the slow season...

Soggy Peso and Jax close for the month of September and Barlito closes for last two weeks. Everything else should be pretty much open.
