I have heard that some resort pools are now salt water. Is that the case at El Cozumeleno?

Nope, it was still fresh water the last time I was there.....and no-one has said any different since....

Seems kinda silly to put salt in the water when there's a whole ocean full of the stuff just 50 feet away does't it? Heh.

It certainly seems foolish to me too. That idea was given to me by someone in the hotel business who has to keep up to date with trends in "hospitality".

Thanks for the reply, Morgy.

Many facilities are now using a salt water pool systems. The salt is very diluted so you can't even taste it.

There is no chlorine smell and the salt water solution does not bleach hair and skin color like chlorine.

It really is a pretty nice.

Bob:

Thanks for your input. I was more concerned it would be like a cruise ship pool which, as I remember, is plain old sea water.

DUUUUH ! Silly Me....This didn't even dawn on me....but Bob is 100% right. They are talking about the FILTRATION SYSTEM....We use to have one of these on our pool when it was new, but the maitenance of these systems got way out of hand, so we went back to clorine. The water on the salt systems is really nice. You don't have the bleach, it doesn't burn your eyes, and it is not as hard on your pool equipment. It works on the same principle as the water softner in your home, but on a much larger scale...If it is working correctly, the salt never goes back into the water per se'....Not enough that you would notice anyway.

Sorry about that....I need another cup of coffee.....

Allen.
