 Occidental Grand Cozumel Questions

Hello,

I'm going to the Grand Cozumel on March 8th. I have a few questions:

-Are you allowed to use "floaties" or tubes in the pools or ocean?

-Is there internet access on the resort to e-mail home? ie) an internet room

-How many a la cart dinners are allowed per week? What do you recommend?

1) I think floaties are allowed in pool & ocean, they also have lifejackets you can use for free.

2) There are 3 computers you can buy minutes for, can't remember how much they charge, but you can buy 15, 30, 60 minutes. Also, my hubby found he could access their wifi on his palm pilot, & I saw another guest using a laptop & she said they had wifi in lounge area.

3) For 7 nights, I think you can book 3 or 4 ala carte dinners, the steak house is the best of the 2, but if you're going to be there for a week, I'd try them both to see which you like.

Have a great time, & tell Veronica in La Posada that Ramona said hi.

Here is link to pics from our last trip if you're interested. Mo

steveandmo,

Thank-you for your reply to my questions. You pictures were beautiful!! Is there much "wildlife" on the resort? How is the snorkeling?

Thanks,

If by wildlife you mean critters, iguanas, birds & butterflies abound. If you mean party life, not so much.

The snorkeling is more to our liking, if you go out by the buoys there are lots of places for fish watching, we saw several barracuda & there seems to be a huge school of fish that hang out by the buoys also. The dive shop offers an excellent 3-reef snorkel tour, well worth it, & if you get the chance, go to Dzul Ha for the day to snorkel, beach is free & the food is worth sampling, huge portions! Wish we were coming with you, have a rum punch for me ;) Mo

Hi,

Yes, you are allowed to use floaties in the pools. Occidental Grand Cozumel has 2 a la carte restaurants El Sonora Grill (steak House) and Los Olivos (Mediteranean) there is also a Pizza Place "La Piazza" If you stay 7 nights you can book 3 times the restaurants. The reservations are made at the guest service desk with Ricardo Torres from 9:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There are 3 computers at the lobby bar. If you need to use the internet you can buy the time at the front desk it's $3usd per 15 minutes. If you stay at the Royal Club they have wireless and it is free of charge.

Can anyone comment on the kids club at Occidental Grand Cozumel? Is there evening entertainment too? Thanks!

I will report 1 incident that happened last April. A young kid about 6 or 7 appeared on the beach. She looked very upset and started crying. Being a mom and a grandma, I asked her what was wrong.

She replied she could not find her mom and dad. I will keep my thoughts to myself on what I thought. Anyway, her parents towels and stuff were sitting 2 chairs from me. I told her maybe they would be right back and she should wait there for them. Mom and Dad show up. Mom was irate, she was supposed to be at the kids club, but they let her leave without a parent.

Scarey thought as the kids club is in the front and we were back at the beach. Would I trust them with mine.... NO.

I love the Occidental, but that was too scarey for me.
