Is there anywhere on the island to purchase the plastic cards to identify the fish seen while snorkeling or diving? If not, any suggestions of where to order from?

If you want to get something before your vacation......Here are a couple I found online. I have ordered from diversdiscount before with no problems on my order.

Type in the search area Cozumel fish id cards and it pulls up what I think you may be looking for. The 7th one down called - Inovative Fish ID Card. Its water proof and double sided.

This one looks pretty cool also......

Starting January 23rd, fish ID cards will no longer be accepted for fish swiming into US waters. They will need 'fishports' (like passports for people traveling into the USA from Cancun & elsewhere) or be denied entrance. Birds will need 'fowlports.'

Thanks to all! Cicopo, I will probably look for them on the island. Turquoiseblue, I will get right into those sites. We have a couple of other trips planned over the next several months and all include snorkeling, so I will try to prepare in advance. Bobdidit, I bet you did!!!! But of course, you are right, all the US needs is a little more bureaucracy. I just hope the fish and fowl can keep up with theirs better than I do mine!

I almost sprayed my computer with iced tea!!! ...That was hilarious, Bob!

jaleha... Christi has cool little wrist-mounted mini cards at her shop (Blue XTSea Diving). You can easily wear them while snorkeling or diving. The new location is on Calle 5, about 1/2 block back from the waterfront.

Yes I do concur, ALL wildlife had better be certain to get their pasports, especially our Canadian geese. Maybe they forgot to get theirs and that might explain why they are still in our area, and not down south like I want to be.

And in the meantime you might want to take a look here.
