can you snorkel right outside of the hotel? Looks like a nice place.
Thanks!

I've jumped in the water there a few times visiting some friends. It's nothing special for sure as far as snorkelling....some marine life but mostly sand and a few tires. And that was before Wilma so I can't imagine it's any better now. But I rarely need much of an excuse to get wet when in Coz so.....

This hotel is a great place for divers. I'm sure they would take you out snorkeling on some of the shallow boat dives and there are spectacular places to see!!! As far as just off the hotel...the reef was severely damaged by the hurricane last year and there isn't as much to see there. We did do some shore diving just to get used to being in the water there and there are some fish to see but not as wonderful as there was elsewhere. But...the hotel and staff are incredibly nice so I would consider it and ask about going snorkeling with the dive boats. I'm not sure if there is actually better snorkeling elsewhere in Cozumel. There are very strong currents in Cozumel as well. We actually had much better snorkeling in Akumel off our hotel there. We stayed at Hacienda de la Tortuga and it was also a wonderful place to stay with incredible snorkeling right off the beach in front of the hotel (and no current to contend with)...and the other advantage is the Mayan ruins which are very close (Tulum and Coba). Consider this place if you only like to snorkel.
Thanks for the responses! We'll be on Akumal Bay snorkeling for a week prior to Coz. Sounds like this hotel is geared for divers. We'll keep searching.
