 Hotel Advise

My wife and I are looking for a nice, small/intimate, non-AI hotel to stay on Cozumel. We experienced a wonderful week in Zihuatanejo, last year, during Spring Break. Taking in the local restaurants and shops created many opportunities for us. Snorkeling was fun there; but I'm sure it's much better on Coz.

Any suggestions?

Yes, we stayed at one of their villas in May and June. We were at Castillo Del Rey and it was fabulous. We also used the cook service for breakfast and also for one dinner. There was daily maid service with fresh towels and bottled water. The representative, Pedro, was very helpful and gave us restaurant and activity ideas. He also arranged a rental car and drove us to pick it up. He would go ahead and buy tickets for excursions and then shuttle us to the pier (prior to renting the jeep). We loved having our own private oasis to come back to complete with swimming pool. If you have any questions, I will gladly help.

Thanks for everyone's input.

CozumelDream, do you know anything about Condumel or Casa Mama? Or, anything similar to this type of small, intimate properties?

CD, I appreciate your willingness to help. Is therre any way that we can correspond outside of this forum?

Sure, you can e-mail me. I am going to separate my name from the @ so spammers hopefully won't recognize it as an address.

The only property we have used of theirs is Castillo Del Rey but the pictures on their website were dead on accurate. The villa was as beautiful as shown. Rhonda and Jason from the Colorado office were very helpful prior to going. Of course once there, Pedro and Beth took over wonderfully.

Feel free to e-mail me directly with any questions. I will be more than happy to help if I can.

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Cozumel

I always forget to mention Condumel and it is really an excellent choice. I have had friends stay there over the years and they all very pleased.

I have been reading the reviews from Hotel Villas Las Anclas. It sounds wonderful. It is listed as the #1 hotel in the hotel section.

Yeah soccermom------Villa Las Anclas is a little jewel........very small and cozy and one block from the town square............

BUT back to the original question...............just wanted to point out that Castillo Del Rey sleeps about 400 people..........hahaa-----okay just kidding but it sleeps a LOT...........Cozumeldreams----I know this because I live across the street and most likely said hi to you guys in the mornings.......and I've been inside.........also know Jason and Rhonda and know that they have very few homes for rent that sleep one couple..........although that DOES exist...........just not many of them available. But I agree, their places are beautiful. Just didn't want this person looking for a small place for two to think Castillo Del Rey was an option............it's HUGE!

So, Cozumeldreams............I'm the gringa with the ratty handpainted VW that was always parked in front of your place............remember me???...........hhahaha...............Betsy

I certainly will email you, CD. VERY generous to allow me the opportunity.

Robert, thanks for the insite on Condumel. I plan to call Rhonda and Jason for their options on our travel dates.

Hotel Villas Las Anclas sounds nice too.

Condumel, the little spot that RobertSDF mentioned, has some of the most beautiful water, in the island, right in front of it. It is in a quiet little area and is easily within walking distance to town. Although most of the corals, in that area, were destroyed by Wilma, there are still lots of critters in the walls, which border the area, from Condumel to the North. If you snorkel there just be careful near the entrance to the marina, known as Puerto Abrigo.

Since I haven't experienced Cozumel and all its splender, other than boats in the area, what is the danger of the marina entrance?

Condumel sounds perfect for what we are seeking. Thanks for all your help with places to stay.
