 Hotel Advise

My wife and I are looking for a nice, small/intimate, non-AI hotel to stay on Cozumel. We experienced a wonderful week in Zihuatanejo, last year, during Spring Break. Taking in the local restaurants and shops created many opportunities for us. Snorkeling was fun there; but I'm sure it's much better on Coz.

Any suggestions?

Probalby Azul. Don't expect Zihua's charm, however.

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Cozumel

I don't know how important it is to be directly on a beach but the Casa Mexican is an excellent choice. They have 70 rooms and are on the ocean (actually across the street) but with a wonderful view from the oceanfront rooms and from the small pool area. A buffet breakfast--probably the best in Cozumel--is included.

Check www.casaviento.net. They rent just 6 units and are 1 block from the beach.

I'd recommend Vista Del Mar, oceanfront but not beachfront. It is 4 blocks from the town square. They have 20 rooms and comes with a continental breakfast. Has a pool but not real big. The staff are wonderful people and made us feel like family.

Intimate, small, not AI, great snorkeling, yep the Playa Azul Hotel fits that description to a tee. Check out what others that have stayed there have to say:

I would like to second the nomination for Vista Del Mar. We were staying in a local villa but were interested in this hotel from what we had seen on the internet. We stopped by one evening and were graciously shown around. This hotel is quite charming and with an ocean view that is breath taking. It is located right in the heart of plenty of shopping and restaurants and finding a cab will never be an issue. Check out the gorgeous pictures at their website.
