Cozumel Forum: Airport to Hotel Transfers...Cab or Book ahead

Airport to Hotel Transfers...Cab or Book ahead

We will be arriving into Cozumel airport and staying at the Cozumel Palace. Should we book transfers with our package or get a cab.

Could someone explain the procedure at the airport, not to get caught up in the timeshare stuff. I was on the plane going to PV and informed the guy next to me what to do and he found me and was so appreciative, the timeshare stuff can really catch you off gaurd.

Thanks

It's eight other posts NOW, but after another 50 posts directing people to a search it will be 50 other posts.

It was a SUGGESTION meant to help making searches easier for others. I had assumed you were providing the search phrase because you wanted to be HELPFUL so why take such offense at a simple suggestion that would enable you to be EVEN MORE helpful? I'll match my search skills against you or anyone else.

I had also assumed your snotty responses and snide remarks to copilot were due to some personal history, but since we have no history I guess it just comes natural for you two.

BTW, I had long since found the rates post before I even made my first post, what I has ASKED was "is there any "OFFICIAL" place where shuttle rates are posted." You know, something published by the actual shuttle companies or the Mexican government?

So are you an "official" rep for these shuttle companies? Do these shuttle companies have a NAME?

Sorry to disappoint but it does not come natural for us two. Both of us try to post helpful and ACCURATE information whenever possible. Having been a resident longer than myself, Betsy often is one of the most knowledgeable people on things Cozumel--and know much about the dive scene, of which I know nothing.

The only personal history we have with CoPilot is the fact that he often posts claiming to be an expert on Cozumel, when in reality he has not been on the island in a long time and the information is often erroneous--just as his airport information is! I only would say, if you do not have current, accurate information on a subject, keep quiet and let someone who does answer.

As for the shuttle companies, one union controls everything and has no website with rates. They really have no incentive to make things easy--they are a monopoly. For this reason, Betsy went to the trouble to compile a current list of rates.

Really, I do not understand much of what you are saying about doing searches--sorry if I offended on that.

Thanks Robert, my apologies to you and Betsy for getting snippy, I felt I was being treated a bit snippy myself.

I don't hang out here every day, I don't know the players in the game, I have no bias. From my perspective, it appeared you and Betsy were double-teaming copilot and being unnecessarily harsh in stressing he doesn't live here and doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't recall that he ever replied directly to you or even mentioned your names. In my experience, in that situation it's usually the attackers with an axe to grind and the one attacked who is "in the right". Usually.

My point about the search phrases was not the major point and intended to be a helpful suggestion. That's why it was in parenthesis and prefixed with the word "Suggestion: ". Feel free to ignore it. If you were visiting Aruba and searched for "airport shuttle rates" would you rather get one result with the rates or 8 results, one of which had the rates and 7 of which were posts telling people to search for "airport shuttle rates"? I was simply suggesting one way to distinguish the target information from the all the pointers to said information.

Enough of the fluff, most of my questions are answered and I'll post the remaining answers in a week, such as what/if there are children rates.

Whatever you do, stay away from the people at the tables asking if you plan to snorkle, scuba, etc. They love to hook you into a timeshare presentation, where three salesmen will go after you.

Ok, thanks for the post and the information on the search.

As far as CoPilot goes, he is as often the attacker as he is the attacked. And nothing wrong with posting Cozumel response when you don't live here--several post on here from other locations. But they do at least visit Cozumel and post in areas where they have some knowledge---and not just web links which often have outdated information.

Hope you got the information you are after! And the airport street situation is a mess right now!!

Keep it simple.

Buy ticket in airport lobby for shuttle van ( was 47 pesos/person in June), show ticket to shuttle van director on sidewalk directly outside airport exit/ relay destination and he will direct you to appropriate van. Have a seat in van; 6-8 minute ride to downtown hotels, for example

Painless

Tollfree

How convenient CoPilot that you chose to ignore this post where you were called on bigtime......to instead post on the ORIGINAL "airport shuttle rate" post continuing to suggest that there is no problem exiting the airport...........do you actually think that Robert and I have some kind of interest in telling people to NOT get a better deal by walking and taking a cheaper taxi??.........heck.....I'd do it in a heartbeat BUT NOT RIGHT NOW...........and it is NOT just a pile of dirt..........geez..........you tire me out...............I tried to tell folks that it is a temporary construction site........the airport road is closed!!,,........and the circle is not possible for dragging bags..........but then YOU who lives in Colorado are of course the "EXPERT"!!............I guess you can make as many jokes as you please------------too bad you are also currently giving very bad advice...............I only hope people understand that you are dealing with your ego at this point and that people who ACTUALLY live here may know more than you do...........and that all we were trying to do was help people avoid an ugly beginning to their vacation...........apparently you don't care about that.........and I am starting to feel really sorry for you.

According to www.cancunmap.com (click on Cozumel map), taxis are available at the Airport Road.

mmm have to wonder if CoPilot has re-invented himself and now claiming to be from Cozumel. Of course, the mapsite would say that-it is not updated daily and no one would expect it to be. Thats one reason for forums--so that current , up to date information can be posted by locals who have that information.

So, as both Betsy and myself have been saying, until the construcion progesses , don't attempt using a taxi. The vans are your only option.
