I would like to know the exact same thing....thanks for asking for me! We're trying to pick between the two... As of right now, we are leaning toward Iberostar.

I think the Occidental offers more for honeymooners...free room upgrades etc.

I have read quite a few reviews on how noisy (thin walls) the rooms are at the Grand. Also, we are going to be scuba diving, so we thought the Iberostar sounds like the place to be. Plus I've heard the food is much better at Iberostar... Have you stayed at both?

Isnt the iberostar a 4* and the occidental a 5*, surely the occidental is better. i think its more expensive too which means its better.

I've stayed at both and have enjoyed both. The Grand is by far a nicer resort and has better food. I've used both dive facilities and they are both fantastic. Dive Palancar at the Grand goes out in smaller groups, and Dressel Divers at the Iberostar used cattle boats. I don't mind either, so it was fine, but a lot of people don't like diving with huge groups, so that is something you should take into consideration if it is a concern of yours.
