I really wouldn't think they'd have the resort closed until December 2006. That would mean it will have been closed for almost 18 months total. I wouldn't hold firm on the May 2006 date, but that's one I'm praying for.

My travel agent has cannot locate any information on the reopening date, and the only information I've received by contacting Iberostar directly is that they have not assessed the damage, and to contact my travel agent. I will check out the post on cozumelmycozumel....

I just called the Iberostar at 888-923-2722 and they said they originally had a reopening date of Dec 15th, however with the extensive damage from Wilma they cannot confirm anything until they hear from Cozumel...which they have not. So, presently they cannot confirm any date forward until they have assessed the damage. They may have info next week.

Hi bet it is frustrating with so many different dates etc.

We were to go in Feb. but our travel agent as well as tour company pulled all vacations to Coz. until the middle of next year.

We also have heard so many different dates for reopening etc. The number I called apparently was head office and yes they have not been down to look at the hotel site but they are responding to what feedback they have gotten from the Mexico Hotel Association etc.

Apparently they were 80% finished the repairs from the last storm before Wilma hit and she has totally flatened the hotel. They stated they debated on reopening and have decided to but it won't be ready until May or later 2006.

Again this is from speaking with someone at the headoffice, so not sure if it holds water or just speculation.

I hope it opens sooner as we would like to go next year late spring.
