Cozumel Forum: Hotel Cozumel and Resort - quiet relaxation?

Hotel Cozumel and Resort - quiet relaxation?

Looking for a quiet hotel near town, with snorkeling off the shore. Hotel Cozumel sounds like it would fit the bill . . . but how noisy is it? Some posters indicated that loud games, announcements, and music are blasted not only around the pool, but also at the "beach" area. Is it possible to sit peacefully at the "beach," reading a book or otherwise enjoying a quiet atmosphere? Or should I look elsewhere (perhaps the Coral Princess)? Would appreciate any insights or suggestions!

Yes, you can get quiet relaxation there. My fiancee and I stayed there 12/25-12/30. The small beach area would be the best place to do so. You could do so at the pool too, but you would be subjected to the announcements of activities on an hourly basis. We didn't mind it because well, it was their job to entertain guests.

We didn't snorkel from the beach there, although the waters did seem rougher and choppier than other beaches we were at. But then again, this is coming from non-swimmers :) The water's pretty clear and you can actually spot fish and other creatures from the gazebo and/or pier.

I liked the convenience of the hotel being so close to downtown and the supermarket. It's a $3 trip each way and a walkable distance ~15-20 minutes. The sidewalks aren't in great shape and there is road construction going on too.

Hope this helped. Enjoy your trip!

Hi, I just stayed there 12/25-12/30. I found it pretty quiet. I mean, yes, there are people who conduct activities around the pool and announcements are made every hour or so, but it's not too annoying. It's just part of their job. At the "beach"-which is really just a patch of elevated sand ready to fit roughly 20 or so chairs, would be a quiet place. The waters are beautiful though, but I'm not sure if I would snorkel there. It seems that the waters are a bit rougher and choppy there compared to other beaches we went to. I am a non-swimmer, so I have more fear :).

Brisas

What floor did you stay on I'am going the end of Jan.

I read you should stay on the third floor and away from the stage area and the front desk. To much noise.

Any comments?

Thanks Dan

I stayed on the 3rd floor, way across from the stage and pool. You can still hear the noise/microphones from the your balcony, but during our naps in the daytime, it didnt really bother us. The shows at night are pretty good. We enjoyed them, especially the comedy night.

I'm traveling to Cozumel for the first time later this month Jan 20-24, and staying at Hotel Cozumel. I'm considering renting a car, do you know if the Hotel charges for parking or if there is suitable parking near by? Thanks.

The Coral Princess was nice and quiet and there's great snorkeling right in front of the hotel. It took us about 40 minutes to walk to town (just strolling). It was just right for us as quiet people. We had a car and went to where things were busy when we felt like it. We'll definitely stay there again, although I got a deal too good to pass up at Casa del Mar this time.

The hotel does not charge for parking and there is a car rental place at the hotel, Fiesta is the name of the company. We paid $82 for a jeep for one day, and then opted to go into town to rent the next since we were told by the concierge that it would be cheaper. We rented a chevy malibu with a/c for $72 total. The jeep wasnt too great. The seats didnt recline, or if it did, it wouldn't stay in its position, and the seatbelt didnt work. So check out the car b4 taking the keys.

I've read on other posts that you should reserve cars online before coming to save some $. Another option would be to attend those timeshare meetings in which ppl will pressure you to buy buy buy! We were offered car rentals for $10 a day..or free car rentals with bottles of tequila included, but opted out since we didnt have enuf time to sit for (they say 1/2 hour) but it turns to be about 2 hours.

Hope the info helps.
