Iberostar Cozumel help! |
|
I'm currently thinking about booking a holiday at the Iberostar Cozumel, all the reviews sound fantastic and have always wanted to visit Mexico. The dates i was originally planning would have been around the 4th or 5th of September for 14 nights, but it seems that this is the rainy season. Would it be advisable to aim for around end of October Beginning of November, as i do like the sun :-) . Also having not travelled much out of Europe would i have to have certain injections or tablets when travelling to this country? I'm also in two minds whether to spend the whole two weeks here or to do a split holiday with one week here and the other week at the sister hotel Iberostar Paraiso in Riviera Maya, has anybody else done this and would you recommend it? Finally after doing a bit of research some internet sites say the the bar is 24 hour service and others say it only opens from 10am - 2am, which one is correct? Can anybody help with any of the above. It would be much appreciated......thanx Report as inappropriate |

Hi, If I were you, I would not go to Cozumel or the Riviera during the months September - November, as it is hurricane season and you will not have the best of the weather while you are there. Also, I recommend staying at the Mayan Riviera for the majority of your stay, rather than Cozumel as there is MUCH more to do there. Here is part of a post that I wrote for another person, it should help you out a lot.... There is so much to do at Riviera: nice beaches, all inclusive resorts, nightlife, daily activities, excursions, etc. and Playa del Carmen seems to meet all of those needs. It is just as beautiful as northern Cancun, but isn't overly commercialized. Cancun north (where all the spring breakers go) is just like going to clubs and bars in the US but with a much nicer beach. We were looking to go somewhere and have a lot of fun, but still get a taste of the Mexican culture, which is why we chose PDC. The town outside of the resorts is supposed to be safe, and you can go out around there at night. Here, you can go on daily excursions to a rainforest, visit Mayan ruins, shopping, etc. There is a nightlife among the hotels, such as shows and dancing and music which we are very much interested in because we are night-owls. I recommened staying at one of the Iberostar resorts (I think there are 4 of them?) because they are transferable and you can hop from one Iberostar hotel to another and use their restaurants and pools. Here is a short list among the MANY thing to do there: *Xcaret - ecological park featuring an aquarium, snorkeling in a natural lagoon, scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, a tour through a rainforest, etc. Go here for their website www.xcaretcancun.com *Tulum - you can visit the Mayan ruins and swim directly under the ruins. The beach here is supposed to be excellent. *Chichen Itza - the best Mayan ruins on the island, but it is a longer day trip and I'm not sure if you'd be up for that. *Cozumel - you can take the ferry over to the island and snorkel the reef there (the 2nd longest reef in the world) *Hidden Worlds - where you can snorkel in underground caves. Everyone has said it is absolutely amazing. Go to www.hiddenworlds.com to look around, it looks incredible. Do some research, you will find that it is beautiful there and there is a TON to do! Hope I helped!

You can't go wrong with Iberostar whichever one you choose. I never get the chance to go for two weeks at a time so first of all I am very jealous. If I was able too however the idea of splitting the weeks between Cozumel & Pariaso Lindo, Del Mar,Beachs,Tucan would be absolutely perfect. I have been to all of them and there is a variety of things to do. Cozumel is laid back and smaller but wonderful. E-mail me directly with any questions about any of them. I only go to Iberostar so I would be the one to ask. Steve Report as inappropriate | ||||||
