Newbie seeking some hotel information |
|
Hello. Looking to arrange a trip in April or May. My partner dives; I do not. I am looking for a decent hotel with a very nice long beach as thats where I will spend my day. I have searched the posts, and am not coming up with a place. (My definition of nice beach is long, clean, nice sand, clear water, and the hotel beach bar close by). I am not interested in a condo, as I want facilities (bar, restaurant etc), and a gym would be an extra plus. Is PDC a better bet? Thanks |

Diving means Cozumel is your best choice. Look into the southern hotels of Iberostar, Occidental Grand and Allegro. Consult their websites and the reviews here and you should be in a better position to make your decision.

Well the boat trip might be a little longer but the El Coz has a geat view, room service, bar/restaurant with ocean view, pretty decent beach with snorkeling right out fron, we never left the property, it is really pretty..

Try El Presidente as well. Vet nice place and well maintained. I assume they have replenished the beach by now. It looked OK from the dive boat, but you never know once you get close.

i've stayed at allegro twice, ibero once, occidental once and el coz once. they all have pros and cons but agree the southern beaches more what you're looking for. the grand beach was the best and they bring drinks to you. (camp at a palapa far south beach and thats closest to the grill and bar area) the allegro has nice beach but i never saw bringing drinks, just collecting cups. ibero beach not too bueno and no palapas either. el coz beach only o k as it;s kinda of small with even a smaller sandy access into water. i think if you pick south beach resorts you will find more what you want and the hub trip not as far to dive.....

We stayed at the Allegro in March and enjoyed it. Beautiful beach, pools, all-inclusive, dive operation on-site, gym, spa, only negative was the smallish rooms( but hey your'e not there to sit in your room!). This resort is located on the south end of the island so dive sites close but town is a $15-17 cab ride one way.

Just got back from the Grand. They did not do drink service on the beach very often and when they do the service will be very slow and far in between. There is the beach club bar and also they had a stand right by the pool where you could grab a drink. Just so you know not to expect poolside/ oceanfront waitors on a regular basis.
