I agree as well, when I booked at the palace there were nothing but great reviews, and now it seems that everyone is complaining about something. I feel that a vacation is what you make it and also agree that there is going to be a greater chance of mishaps if you travel during peak times. This being said does anyone know if the beginning a peak time because of how hot it is? I really have no idea and was just wondering how full I should expect the palace to be June 11-18.

I agree...when I booked the reviews were very upbeat & nothing but raves. Maybe once you've booked, that is when you start seeing the negative reviews. It makes me a little unsettled when I read the bad reviews because Ive already paid. But Im sticking with it. Im taking my chances :) Maybe there will be some good reviews before we go. Im trying not to stress, but I feel a bit sick when I have to read negative reviews almost everyday. Im traveling with a large group and changing hotels would be a disaster, but the odds look like someone will get a bad room. I also don't see any one place standing out that would be any better anyways.

Right after the holidays it seems there were a lot of complaints as well. Too many people, not enough staff, food, service, etc.. I know we are Occidental members and usually get the better rooms, ocean view, refrigerator, etc..

i agree twin that none of the other resorts really stand out either, i have read many reviews for other resorts and it seems that they all have some negatives. I like the closeness to town and Im hoping that the bad reviews are just from people who are so picky that they would find something bad to say no matter where they stayed.

The dates you quoting is not peak period. You should be O.K.

I usually go begining of May and begining of Dec.

Im really excited about the closeness to town. I hope that turns into a positive experience. Last year I didnt do much outside the hotel. I plan to explore alot more this time. So not having to get a taxi was key, plus the rooms (I hope to get) looked wonderful.

Looks like when we are going it wont be as busy as right now. By then it will be warm in the States too.
