I haven't gotten a clear picture of what the shoreline looks like going north or south from the Coral Princess. How hard is it to walk in either direction and how far is it to sand? How hard is it to swim against the current there as well?

Rose...Click on the hotels at the top of this page....Then look for the Coral Princess and open.....click on the candid traveler pictures...There are a few good pictures of the shore line...It's mostly rock, so you will definatly need Aqua shoes.....Keep in mind the water at the hotel is about 15 feet deep right off the shore..

Allen.

Thanks Morgy, I found the pictures. As long as one snorkels around the hotel and doesn't drift too far up or down can I get by with my full foot fins and enter and exit from the hotel stairs? I don't have booties (aqua shoes?) or the strap type fins. If I need them, though, can they be rented cheaply and very close by? I suppose I should buy my own booties. Yuck...other people's booties.

You should really buy your own booties....You can wear them anywhere...I really don't think they can be rented with a snorlkle package...

We snorkled in front last year and I wore open heeled fins with no booties. Its not ideal, but it was fine. You can't touch the bottom anyway. They do have a little Scuba booth (not big enough to be called a shop) at the hotel. You really can't walk on the beach past CP. I think I posted some pics on the CP review section that shows the water front. I hope you got an ocean front room, the view is great.

IF you drift too far north to swim back to the CP how far is it to northern exit points and how hard are they to get up? If you have light booties can you walk the coast in them or is it worse than that? Are there any exit points that you can call a cab from?

I am not sure about exit points as we just snorkled around the hotel. Their is really no shore to walk on. Maybe you could swin against the current then float back with it.

I was hoping to walk back from the Playa Azul. Is it just too rocky to try in aqua shoes?

In that picture I noticed it was all flat-rock, or iron stone if you will...You can definatly walk on it....I'm just not sure how far you have to go down before you can find an exit....the next hotel had a beach so it can't be more than 100 yard ????

Allen.

rosepatch, buy a waterproof container to hang around your neck to carry 40-50 pesos for a taxi. Walmart may have them.

Thanks for that tip. I was wondering if the taxi drivers wouldn't want to mess with a ride of such a short distance with people in wet suits.
