 Moon Palace

My husband and I are scheduled to be at the Moon Palace November 13, we are just holding our Breath waiting to see what happens....We was originally scheduled to be at the Adventura Spa Resort but after the Hurricane, it had to close, so they transfered our reservation to the Moon Palace, I am not sure....I feel like maybe I need to reconsider the whole trip.

We will be watching thi forum closley for the next week or so for updates, If amyone has good info, please let us know.

If they take the direct hit it looks like they will, we will be lucky to go to Cancun next year in november, not in the next few weeks.

Aventura is reopened. Not sure what kind of damage they will sustain from Wilma. We are supposed to go to ASP on the 25th of Nov.

Maybe you can transfer your reservation back to ASP?

Don't throw in the towel just yet. We stayed at the Moon Palace about one month after Emily hit and had the same concerns. It is one of the resorts that can withstand a big hurricane in terms of it's structure and is currently used as an evacuation center.

There was one Palapa Restaurant (out by the pool) that was being repaired while we were there. Other than that, we didn't see any other devastation and our trip was not disrupted in any way. They had Moon Palace cleaned up and ready to go w/in days. These resorts don't want to loose your business and will do what they can to be up and running asap.

We'll all just have to wait and watch what Wilma brings in the next 24 hrs!

My fiancee and I were scheduled to get married at the ASP just before Emily. They tried to put us at Moon but we insisted on pushing our wedding forward to November 19th departure to ASP... all the good that did. From what they have posted on the palace website it looks as though people are being transfered to the ASP and Moon so maybe it won't get as much damage? Still keeping my fingers crossed.

I've pasted what's on the website:

Palace Resorts - Operational Updates

October 21, 2005

All Palace Resorts guest have been safely evacuated to Moon Palace and Aventura Spa Palace. Hurricane Wilma remains a Category 4 hurricane (sustained winds 145 mph) as it now closes in on the northeastern Yucatan Peninsula. Right now, Wilma is moving slowly but steadily to the north- northwest at 6 mph. We will continue to update this section as more information becomes available.

We will let you know if we hear anything...maybe you could do the same.

Thanks! ~
