 Help! Please! Barcelo Club Las Perlas - Damaged? 

Hi everyone, Hope you can all pull the stops out to help me, PLEASE; just gone to pick tickets up to go to Las Perlas in 2 weeks and Travel Agent tells me that the hotel was damaged in Emily, and is no longer able to take our booking - can anyone confirm/deny this please.

Jujosh, that is very surprising to hear. All the information we have received is that all hotels in Cancun are A Ok and running totally normally after Emily. There was little damage done here, the one hotel I know of that has closed down is Aventura Spa Palace out in the Riviera Maya. Can you contact the hotel directly? Sounds strange to me....Anyone else have info?

So, the travel agent is saying they can't honour your reservation? Is she offering alternatives or any sort of solution?

yes, the caribean princess but I have heard that that hotel is more for club 18-30 holidayers not families - we have 4 kids plus 2 adults that are mentally handicapped in the party, so I am worried about that, plus we really wanted a beach front hotel, not a lagoon sided one.

Do you have any idea about this hotel, your info is extremely valued, thanks

If I were you I would investigate what the heck is going on with your original reservation before making any changes. Truly, my understanding is that everything here is ok. Here is a link for contacting Barcelo directly to find out what is up. And if you do need to make a change, definitely stand up for your right to a beach side hotel, it makes a huge difference being on the lagoon.

Jujosh....Looking everywhere for you, NO indication that Las Perlas is in any way damaged or closed. All signs point to go. Please keep me posted on your situation, I think contacting them directly with your reservaton numbers will get the most direct answer. Good luck my friend, don't settle for anything less than what you want!

Thanks, I have just emailed hotel and some reviewers from UK who appeared to have been there after Emily hit (I think). waiting for replys from them and will speak to travel agent again tomorrow,as soon as shop opens; I smell a rat. Will keep you posted, and if you have any local contacts who know anythin either way, I'd be gratefull; many thanks again... Josh.XX

Hey Jujosh,

Las Perlas was NOT damaged in the hurricane. If your Travel agent is trying to feed you that it is a lie. Force the issue and tell them you know for a fact that it is not damaged. I think they are using the hurricane as an excuse.

Hi All, thanks for your help yesterday, Holiday company-first choice- changed there story after I told them I knew it wasn't damaged in Emily (they must hate the web) and changed tack saying that 'facilities and services' had been adveresely affected by hurricane; however were unwilling to budge on change of hotel - just kept saying if we didn't like it to cancel. We have now been offere the carousel - any ideas?
