mention has been made in one of the reviews that there's no cigar bar, piano sing along bar as advertised on Excellence website.

Is it true?

i don't smoke cigars myself but my partner does and I just wanted to know, if all the facilities, bars, restaurants etc were fully opened and working?

Also, we are going in May, haven't booked a roof top or excellence club, just an ordinary room, should we request a specific block thats not facing the construction next door? Would you know Flipflop man?

What were the bars like at night in resort?

Did you get upgraded?

It is my understanding that any suites which face the construction or are likley to be effected to it are not being used.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Getting back to reality is tough!!! The occupancy was still naer 35-40%, but that is a good thing. The feeling of having such a beautiful resort pretty much to yourself is absolutely wonderful, and will definately not last. I'm sure this resort will be one of the quickest to reach full capacity.

There is a cigar store, just not a full bar area with entertainment dedicated to cigar smoking. Also, there is not a piano bar solely dedicated to that form of music. They do have piano and saxophone players in the Barcelo Restaurant. There is also live music in the Martini Bar, Kafe Cafe Bar,(outside at night, very nice area), Agave Restaurant, and even live music at the main pool area on 2 different afternoons. They also were very good and had a couple of guests sing along with them and clapping, singing, dancing is encouraged, lots of fun.

They do close one restaurant each night due to occupancy but even that is not an issue. You always now which one it is the night before. The pillow menu is slid under your door with the following days activities, spa specials, drink of the day(try each one), restaurant closings etc.

We had an Excellence Club Roof Top Terrace Suite and were very pleased that we spent the extra money on it. This was worth it to us because we wanted the extra perks and location, but it may not be for all. It is definately a personal choice and we heard that all rooms were beautiful. If this does sound right for you, I suggest building 9, since it is the furthest from the construction next door.

We just can't say enough about this beautiful resort. Excellence certainly knows what they are doing, and they certainly know how to please at each and every level, from the most obvious and important, to some of the smallest details that make you feel so comfortable, yet very important. What a fulfilling experience. We will definately return!!!!!

Was there any noise from the construction next door?

Was your rooftop terrace overlooked?

Were the tennis courts nice?

The only noise that we could hear was minor and only when you got as close as possible to it. Behind building 8 by the Excellence Club pool and lounge is probably the closest. I'm not sure if going up a few floors effects the noise. We met a very nice couple from NY that had a Roof Top Suite in building 8 that faced Kafe Cafe and said that they could barely hear anything at all and definately would not want any other location. Our Rooftop Suite was in the high rise part of building 9 and could not be looked down on from any location.(room #9458 end room) Any room in the high rise section of building 9 cannot be looked down on( most prvacy) However, the lower front section of building 9, facing the main pool can be partially looked down on from the high rise part. In other words, any 2nd floor roof top can have a partial privacy issue, but not 4th floor roof tops.

The tennis courts are nice, just as nearly every single other part of this property. Everthing is brand new.
