Bookinhotels.com - Is this site for real

We have just found a website called bookinhotels.com that is listing prices that seem too good to be true. So good they make me suspicious. For example, Blue Bay Getaway's website and all the usual travel websites (expedia, hotels.com, etc) give a price of about $330 per night for 2 people. Bookinhotels spit back a price of $170, also for 2 people. Other hotels also came back with unbelieveably low prices. If it's for real I would like to book, but I wanted to see if anybody else had any experience with this website first. Have any of you used or heard of them?

I don't know if they are legit or not, haven't even gone to the site. My first thought was that that price is the per person price?

I initially thought that bookit was insanely low on their prices, until I went through to the booking page and saw that the price had magically doubled. lol Turns out they list the pp price, not the rate per room.

That could be it. The site says that it is the room price, not the per person price, but at the same time it is almost exactly half the price quoted for 2 people on other sites. Hopefully I can find someone who has used them. Don't want to get suckered in, but also don't want to miss a great deal if it is legit. Last year at the hotel we did speak to one person who had paid an extremely low price for their room. Maybe it's for real, maybe not.

Hi I booked a hotel in Ocho Rios Jamaica with this www.bookinhotels.com I pre-paid the entire amount. I leave tomorrow but its NOT pp so it seems. The only problem that I have had so far is that they are Russian or Ukrainian and there is a difficulty in translation. I asked for pricing on a shuttle service 4 times but have received no response. I cant find a website for the hotel itself either. I WILL FILL YOU ALL IN WHEN I RETURN.

Well, Im back from Jamaica. It seems that the price was to good to be true but it was still honored. Bookinhotels.com tried to pursued me to take an OCEANFRONT room for an extra $80 per night. Luckily, I read up on the hotel before booking it. ALL ROOMS ARE OCEAN FRONT. It seems they had a price error (which was honored without a problem by the hotel). I told bookinhotels.com that I was happy with the room that I booked and I did not need an upgrade. My room was amazing. Clean, well maintained and overlooking the water. I could leave the room and put my toes in the sand yet walk to the bar for a drink. The SHAW PARK HOTEL WAS GREAT!!

I am having the same question on bookinhotels.com. I'm booking for my honeymoon and I really don't want to get to the place and not have a reservation. Did everything go okay with making your reservation and you feel like its legit? Anybody else have any advice? Its just so much cheaper!

I am sorry to have to post this email.

My STRONG ADVICE IS NOT TO USE THIS CROWD. I booked a hotel in Iceland for 9 days returning the Thursday after Easter, ie one week ago. I paid in full in the last week in January.

I and my family travelled from Ireland on 12th March 2008. When we arrived, the hotel had not received the booking, nor the payment, and said that they do not have any dealings with this company. This was despite bookinhotels having not only confirmed our reservation, but also having sought and received an additional 200 euro in January, when we went to pay.

We were very fortunate - the hotel was very understanding and sympathetic and were able to squeeze us in but not in the same type of rooms we had booked.

We emailed bookinhotels.com from our holiday, and they apologised and said we would have a refund in "2/3 days" claiming it was a "problem with their provider".

Despite emails since I am only getting bland responses saying they will refund me "shortly" but no real explanation as to what happened and why we cant have the money we gave them in January, back.

If I get the refund I will update this forum but for the present I would avoid using this booking company

Re my comment re Iceland - just to clarify, I had to pay the hotel whilst in Iceland despite having already paid bookinhotels.com in January, because bookin had not paid the hotel despite taking the money from me - so I have now paid for a holiday for four twice and have to get the refund from the booking company, with no success to date

Hello Dubtraveler, is it possible to bring this complaint to your credit card company and pull the payment back via it? The merchant(bookinhotels.com) neither provided any service nor met its obligation.

Maybe the more complaints against bookinhotels.com the card company receives, the more attention it will pay to this merchant?

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Playa del Carmen

I can't comment on this site but $170 total per night is correct.

I could have booked BBG-which is now temptations for 980/pp for a week in October INCLUDING air and transfers from Buffalo.

Our air was 860 of that price and our transfers cost 60, so that leaves $148 per night for the room/food and hotel in total.

There are lots of deals to be had for 3 star hotels out there :)

Just like the rack rate at Iberostar Grand is like 500 per night, most everyone never pays that. Someone just booked air/transfers and IB Grand for 3K or so in total for October I believe-that's total for 2 people from ummm...I think it was Boston via liberty travel. It may have been closer to 3500 total, but I know it was in the low 3K area.
