Cancun topless / nude beaches

We are a late 30's couple from SC who have never been to Cancun and we are looking for an all inclusive resort with topless / nude beach but not a swinger / alternative place like Desire seems to be. We have read the reviews of Blue Bay and they seem mixed, any other recommendations?

You don't want Blue Bay. You want Hidden beach Resort. This is right beside Eldorado Seaside Resort. There is one other to consider but I am not as familiar with it and can't think of it's name. I believe it is nice but small. If you just want topless then you can do that at most Resorts. Especially those south of Cancun. I will be going to Oasis Akumal where the large Italian contingent our know for going topless.

You would be wise to use the search feature.

Wish I could see you there. lol

I'm staying at the Golden Crown Paradise (GCP)...it's an all adults resort, but not a swingers or couples resort. They are okay with being topless on the beach, and by the pool.

Read an article over the weekend by a reporter who sat down with 8-10 resort owners in Phuket, Thailand.

This is THE big foreigners area on the Thai coast.

The reporter said he couldn't get a word in edgewise about his interests because all the Thais wanted to talk about was him writing how offended they were by nude and topless bathers and would he please try to help get it stopped.

Mind you, this area is KNOWN for (supposedly) turning the "blind eye" to such activity. I have also posted before on this Forum that the people of Mexico feel the same away about public immodesty.

This won't stop "with it" persons from indulging themselves in Cancun for all sorts of reasons -- unless of course they care.

Let's settle down folks.....

The thread starter is "specifically" seeking information on

Cancun Resorts that "specifically" cater to nudists in search

of free expression and lifestyle. This is a bit different than

carousing the beaches of Cancun in your birthday suit with

a Pina Colada looking for trysts. In fact, I'd venture to say

that most people going topless in Cancun at any resort aren't

looking for anything more than a tan and a taste of the

Carribean air.

Are some of them exhibitionists, attention seekers, thrill

seekers, or complete and utter disrespectful moroons, sure

they are, but they're there whether topless, nude or fully

attired alike.

And, Pop's points are well taken, the Resorts allowing nudity

or more properly turning a blind eye (no pun intended) do

so only as a trade off for foreign tourist dollars. The locals

culturally, meaning the majority of Mexicans whether Mayan

or not, find public nudity as distasteful and disrespectful.

As do the Thai's as has been previously pointed out.

But, and it's a big one, Cancun has become a

world city, a major world tourist destination and like

Thailand, a clash of cultural values is occurring and not just

because of Americans. The Europeans have influenced the

cause/effect relationship of dollars for tourism that has

infused the Mexican society at the behest of the Mexican

And, I might add, being topless doesn't make one morally

bankrupt or "with it" by any measure. Just as being

puritanical doesn't give one the right to pronounce and judge

others or make them evil zealots of the moral majority on

the other hand.

Now, this is my suggestion, given the Mexican's cultural

differences and the obvious nervousness amongst many

travellers regarding public nudity. Respect the local

culture, if you must display your body for pleasure or

freedom of expression, please do so discreetly or at a

resort that "specifically" caters to such activity. Somewhere,

there's a happy medium, that can provide tolerance and

respect for all involved, maturely and in a non juvenile

manner. Will the lines cross occaisionally, of course they will,

but if we all recognize that the human body is something we

all have and as such, being nude doesn't make it borderline

pornagraphic or that bathing nude requires a modicum of

discreetness to the locals and other travellers, especially

children, we might just all be able to enjoy these darn

vacations w/o these continuous debates and picayune

social injustices.

Tolerance folks, tolerance.....

Now, I'll get off the soapbox and recommend that the poster

head off to PDC to the resorts that woo the European

Traveler and are known for tolerance in regard to nude

Dangers is the voice of reason, as always.

But, ever one to nitpick:

He/she writes:

"if you must display your body for pleasure or

freedom of expression"

Only some Americans and some Europeans could see those rationales as persuasive.

The humble people of the world watch. And wait.

Just go to Australia where they are more in touch with their bodies and view nudity as perfectly fine. Also many European countries also find it very acceptable and has nothing to do with tourism as most of the ones nude are from those areas. Have fun and hope you avoid the tan lines.

I've always found Europeans to be VERY tolerant of nudity. And Americans...not so much - but it's all a variation. I'm American..and I don't see any problem with it if it's done tastefully (which I will still admit is MY opinion therefore I still don't just anyone for it).

Although I won't personally be walking around nude or topless, I don't have a problem with someone walking by me who is, whether they appear attractive or not...etc. The only instance where I would be saying anything is if it were in the presence of young children.

Ah, we finally have some down home "pyscho-babble" to deal with.

"In touch with their bodies."

That reminds me, got to dust the spirit catcher in my car and get a new pyramid hat to wear in bed.
