Quintana Roo forums
Cancun forum We thought both these hotels sounded interesting, but the Riu was a little nicer. We read that the Gran has no beach and the water at Riu isn't as nice as the other hotels because of the location. we really like the beach so this is important to us, any info? Thanks!

I agree with bnbrewer...I also love the Riu Cancun--I've gone there for the last two years. However, haven't been to the other hotel you mentioned. The beach at the Riu Cancun is wonderful--you could not ask for anything better! They recently received a best beach in the carribean award--you will see that mentioned if you click on Riu Cancun on Trip Advisor. Hope this helps!
I think as much as we go to bat for Riu hotel, we need a kick-back! Or how about a free week's stay? :)
Appreciate the advice so far now a new question, is it worth the extra money to go to the Riu Cancun over the Riu Caribe? any difference in beach etc.? the water issue I heard is the clarity because it's closer to the bay. Maybe that 's not the case, I love getting away form the waves a lttle!

TangO....sounds like a great idea to me!! I just love the Riu Cancun but now I'm going to try RPLA. It's still a RIU!
did you see anything snorkeling at either resort? I've never heard of snorkeling this far north, that would be great! are there any waves? at least to boogey board or are is it too quiet? thanks!
