Cancun Forum: Riu Cancun or Riu Caribe for young couple with small child

Of course it all depends on what you like and what you are looking for, but I would go with the Riu Caribe. We were there in Nov with our 14mnth old. The Caribe has more open space where you can walk slowly with a toddler and not get in the way of other people. There are not as many rooms and it has more common space so you don't feel as packed in. In my opinion the pool area at the Cancun is too small for the number of rooms. The swim up bar is down right nasty, but the good thing is that it is separate from the other pools. The kids pool at the Cancun is very poor. It is very small and tucked away in the back corner. The kids area at the Caribe is part of the main pool, but is it sectioned off. It was a little deeper than what I would have expected for a kids pool. Keep in mind if you stay at one, you can use the other. I would say that both hotels had a similar mix of people. It is probably because they are the same chain and priced about the same.
